Offering you peace of mind and confidence during your stay is one of our top priorities. To ensure you can focus on just enjoying the destination you choose, we have created a free Travel Safe with Meliá powered by SOS INTERNATIONAL insurance policy in collaboration with SOS INTERNATIONAL.

Any booking made in hotels participating in this policy will automatically receive this insurance. You will therefore have extensive coverage and medical assistance if any unexpected health event occurs (including Covid-19) and also have the chance to take a free antigen test in the hotel.

Our hotels have also been transformed to guarantee customer safety through the Stay Safe with Meliá programme, endorsed by Bureau Veritas, specialists in the certification of hygiene, disinfection and quality standards in operational processes.


Policy coverage

1. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

  • Medical expenses outside the normal country of residence up to €40,000

  • Medical expenses in the normal country of residence up to €40,000

  • Dental costs up to €300

  • Medical transfer of the sick and injured. If it is not organised by SOS INTERNATIONAL, up to €3,000

  • Transfer of the deceased. If it is not organised by SOS INTERNATIONAL, up to €3,000

  • Emergency hospital transfers included

  • Extension of hotel stay (maximum 10 days), €100 per day

  • Return of the travel companions of the insured person (those people included on the same booking)

  • Displacement of a person to accompany the Insured person while in hospital (more than 5 days)

  • Living expenses of a person to accompany the insured person while in hospital (more than 5 days and up to a maximum of 15 days), up to €300 per day

  • Accompaniment of minors or dependent persons

  • Accompaniment of the deceased (maximum stay of 10 days), up to €100 per day

  • Dispatch of a doctor

  • Extension of stay in hotel of a travel companion due to hospitalisation of the insured person (maximum €5,000), up to €330 per day

  • Displacement of travel companion in situ (maximum 10 days), up to €20 per day

  • Expenses for the stay of a travel companion in the clinic (maximum 10 days), up to €100 per day

  • Medical assistance service

Covid-19 is covered by this policy. The costs of prolonging the insured person’s stay due to a medical diagnosis of this illness is covered for the maximum specified period.

FAQS

The Travel Safe with Meliá powered by SOS INTERNATIONAL insurance will apply automatically to any booking in the hotels participating in the policy regardless of the date of the stay. The booking confirmation will include information on the inclusion of the insurance.
The insurance will be valid throughout the stay at a Meliá Hotels International hotel, from check-in to check-out.
In the trip destination, which the contract specifies may be anywhere in the world, although assistance may not be available in war zones or countries excluded by the Insurer.
Coverage will only be valid for trips of more than 30 km from the insured traveller’s habitual place of residence (15 km in the case of island residents).
The policy covers all guests included on the booking and staying at the Meliá Hotels International hotel during the period of stay indicated in the booking.

If an event occurs that may give rise to the provision of any of the guarantees covered in the Policy, the claim must be communicated immediately using the telephone number indicated or any other means that registers the communication of the claim, being expressly excluded in general those benefits that are not communicated to SOS INTERNATIONAL and for which the corresponding authorisation has not been obtained.

To allow the insurer, SOS INTERNATIONAL, to offer the customer the coverage mentioned above, the customer agrees that Meliá may transmit their personal data to said insurer solely for that purpose and must expressly communicate any other purpose.

Meliá reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions of the free insurance at any time. Said modification will be communicated publicly and under no circumstances will it affect the customers who have made their booking under these terms and conditions.
