The sea and mountains merge spectacularly in one of the most idyllic and iconic natural environments in the Mediterranean. 214 kilometres of coastline that were the source of inspiration for the great Salvador Dalí.
A paradise for artists and writers
Let's start with Cadaqués, one of the most beautiful fishing villages on the Costa Brava. Its beautiful coves and cobbled alleys contrast with the pristine white buildings. Pine trees and bougainvilleas add colour to the romantic landscapes, such as in Cala d’Aiguafreda in Begur. The National Parks on the Costa Brava are home to some of the most important biodiversity in the Mediterranean. You should not miss Cap de Creus and its iconic lighthouse, the Parc d’Aiguamolls in l’Empordà or Les Illes Medes, a very popular destination for divers. If you’re a music lover, we recommend you make a stop in Calella de Palafrugell to listen to the “habaneras” and try the “suquet de peix”, a typical fish stew. Empúries used to be the gateway to Greek and Roman culture in Spain. You should not miss the ruins in l'Escala.
