Morocco

Bathed by the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, this colourful North African country is one of the gateways to the immense Sahara desert. Touring the desert on a camel or sleeping in a tent under the starry skies is an experience you’ll never forget.

Under the desert stars

The Jemaa el Fna Square in the city of Marrakech is the symbol of a country that is truly fascinating. Merchants, monkeys and snake charmers make it a frenetic place to visit, in contrast to the peacefulness of small fishing villages like Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ksar de Ait Ben Haddou is a beautiful clay and adobe village where time seems to have stood still. The ideal place to savour a mint tea, the most popular drink in the country. If you’re looking for more places to discover in Morocco, we recommend the mazy streets of Fez and its 8th-century medina, or the blue city of Chaouen at the foot of the Rif Mountains. The Ouzoud Waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains are a paradise for climbers.

Currency
The currency is the Moroccan dirham. We recommend you carry cash to buy in the markets.
Language
The official languages are classical Arabic and Berber. The latter is the language spoken colloquially in all regions.
Internet
The quality of Internet access is good in hotels. In more rural areas there may be some problems with Internet access.
Weather
Huge variety in the climate. The climate is cooler on the coast than in the interior, where it becomes extremely hot due to the proximity to the desert.
