“I had an overall very positive stay at the Meliá Bilbao and would happily return. The hotel is located in an iconic building designed by the renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. Its location directly on the river is excellent, and the famous Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is within easy walking distance. The rooms are well-equipped and offer a comfortable stay, including high-quality toiletries from Rituals. Guests booking a river-view room should be aware that these rooms can be a little noisier due to the nearby tram line and some bars in the area, especially in the evening. A particular highlight is the breakfast buffet. The selection of high-quality cheeses and ham specialties is outstanding and reflects the region’s excellent culinary traditions. The only real disappointment was the coffee. Cappuccino and other coffee specialties are served from two aging automatic machines that require frequent refilling and use powdered milk instead of fresh milk. This is unfortunate because the rest of the breakfast experience is excellent. Upgrading the coffee service would significantly enhance an otherwise top-class breakfast. The small pool is a nice feature and perfect for a quick refresh after a long day of sightseeing and walking around the city. Overall, Meliá Bilbao offers a great location, comfortable rooms, and an excellent breakfast. Despite the disappointing coffee machines, I would definitely stay here again. With a better coffee setup, the hotel experience would be even closer to perfect.”
