“One of the really good ones in Luang Prabang”

“We stayed here for three nights at the end of Jan/Feb for my birthday and our anniversary. First trip to Laos so we were excited to see the Luang Prabang area. The hotel is in a fantastic location, very peaceful with great views of the Mekong River. As it was a special occasion, we chose a suite with a river view and the view did not disappoint, the room was comfortable, clean and very spacious. The living and bedroom areas were all teak flooring and trim adding to the colonial style of the property which was the former palace of one of Laos most revered leaders. Our suite had a patio right at the top of the river banks, and most rooms have patios or verandas with views of the Mekong across the lawns. Highly recommend booking a room with the view. The staff, led by General Manager Bella were excellent, very polite and helpful. We can't thank them enough for their thoughtful service. The property sits about 4 kilometers south of Luang Prabang city but offers an hourly shuttle to town as well as airport transfers as needed. If you are looking for a relaxing spot to spend a few days in the Luang Prabang area, this is it. The gardens are well maintained and the property has huge expanses of lawns along the river and is extremely peaceful. Both the breakfast area and the restaurant offer seating overlooking the Mekong. Whether watching the sunrise over the river mist, or taking in an evening cocktail or meal while watching the sunset on the river, the atmosphere is one of tranquility. I should note that this hotel is recently affiliated with the Melia brand and they have plans in the near term (2025) to do major renovation and upgrades to all areas including rooms, restaurants, etc. From what we heard, it will make the hotel even more spectacular. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Luang Prabang area. We will definitely return.”

“My recent stay at the Grand Luang Prabang Affiliated by Melia for a getaway was really fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the staff's warm hospitality made us feel truly welcome. Our deluxe room was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated. The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable, and the Mekong river view from our window was breathtaking. We enjoyed several meals at the Le Bistrot Restaurant located in the hotel and mine favorite is Salmon Steak with crispy skin and medium rare made my day more perfect. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious with variety of choices. You can even try the local noodle soup which is really delicious. The service was impeccable. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Luang Prabang Affiliated by Melia to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Luang Prabang. The exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, and the only hotel with the view of Mekong River make it a truly memorable experience.”

“This is a wonderful hotel. The service is great, the staff all very helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet caters for western and Asian travellers, the food is great. There is a shuttle several times a day into and from Luang Prabang. A tuktuk is only about 80,000 lak.”

The Grand Luang Prabang, Affiliated by Melia We as a family would highly recommend this hotel with its unique and peaceful location away from the may for some people slightly louder centre of Unesco Site Luang Prabang. We stayed there at January 2025. The hotel staff, the management team and the green garden land with its water buffalo and the river felt like a picture in the best travel magazine you can imagine. The tranquility you can experience there is rare to find all over the world. The free shuttle service to and from the centre back to the Hotel was a big plus, just a 5-6 minutes trip. You will be in a scenic location wright along the river Mekong. Since Melia took over you feel the positive change. We absolutely loved it.”

Wir waren 8 Tage hier. Super nettes Personal, das meist wenig englisch spricht. Sehr bequeme Betten, alles super sauber, alter Charme, etwas laute Aircondi, haben wir abgeschaltet.”
