Every autumn, Munich hosts one of the most famous popular celebrations in the world: the Oktoberfest. For just over two weeks, the Theresienwiese (meaning "Theresa's Meadow", and the large esplanade where the Oktoberfest is held, a tradition that began in 1810 with the wedding of the then Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Theresa of Saxe-Hildburghausen) becomes a huge fair where large beer tents coexist with Bavarian gastronomy, live music, attractions, and traditions that have been part of the city's identity for over two centuries. And although beer is one of its main protagonists, the Oktoberfest is also an opportunity to get closer to the culture and customs of Bavaria.

“A fantastic family stay and somewhere we would happily return to next year. We had a wonderful family stay at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora and overall felt it fully deserved five stars. The hotel itself is beautiful, the grounds and pools are excellent, and there is a really good choice of places to eat and drink throughout the resort. The food was consistently very good, with the Asian restaurant a particular highlight for us. The variety across the restaurants also meant it never felt repetitive. Poolside service was excellent and made a big difference during the day. We felt very well looked after, and the Guest Experience team were particularly impressive. The level of care, follow-up and personal attention made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the stay. For a hotel of this size and quality, the only areas I would improve are fairly small ones. Restaurant service could sometimes be more consistent, even though the food itself was very good. And Meliá genuinely needs to invest in about a thousand teaspoons, because finding one for coffee or tea at breakfast became a strangely regular challenge! For families, I also think the hotel would benefit from having a proper larger waterslide in or around the main pool area for older children, as well as another ice cream point elsewhere around the resort so everything is not concentrated in one place. Those are relatively minor points though. Overall, the hotel offers a great combination of quality, choice, service and atmosphere. We felt very welcome, there was plenty for the whole family to enjoy, and compared with other hotels of a similar standard we felt it represented reasonable value. We would absolutely return!!”

“Wow! This place is amazing, We didn’t expect it to be this good. The setting is amazing, the grounds are beautiful and the garden team need a big shout out keeping it all looking amazing. They have Europe's biggest infinity pool which is huge! Got to be 500meter long, my only bug bear with this is that it’s a salt pool, and it’s pretty salty we had to get my son some goggles from the shop in very near by town. They have over 16 pools with spa jacuzzi points in them, this is great, but it does need a little action, they say ‘’ They honour Silence’’ but it feels like a graveyard in there and when someone speaks you can hear the conversation, just needs a little background music to make it feel like a holiday and not overly forced. The food in the Food Market is simply amazing, and the best we have had of any all inclusive holiday in the past 8 years. The selection and variety of it each night is brilliant, some hard working chefs in that kitchen! The choice of restaurants for lunch is also very good and the food quality is equal to the Food Market, they have a Italian, Mexican and Mediterranean they are all À la Carte with a decent choice, for me it’s missing missing a slightly lower/easier option as after a few days of eating sometimes you just want a snack for lunch like a toastie/simple salad. We went half board, so paid for lunches as we tend to go out and about a few days, these lunched have cost of £100 a day so far, which is a little steep tbh. Drinks are pricey as well and not included in half board. Dinner choice in the Food AMrket was amazing and they had more choices of restaurants for dinner as well, so included, discounted and some you had to pay for, all very good that we chose. The staff are amazing, there are so many of them everywhere working hard to please you, they do a great job. The room was great, huge kingsize bed, amazing jacuzzi pool in the garden, and a day bed, which could be more secluded. We went with a 16yr old boy amid there isn’t much to do for them, the smaller pools are too quiet and lifeguards police very strong for any fun! The evening entertainment is lacking, they have a DJ from 7pm tom9:30pm that’s dinner time! also when the main entertainment starts on the main stage, I get that they don’t want 2 things running at same time to dilute the main entertainment gust numbers, but the teenagers are not interested in that kind of entertainment, but they need something running till 11:30/midnight just to keep them entertained, there were a lot of them around when we were there, they shouldn’t be forgotten. I would say book-it if you’re a young couple, not so sure if you have a teenager as there isn’t much to do for them. There were lots of young families there when we were, so popular with them. Wife and I will be back when we need a chilled week, with good food and sun.”

“This is a really nice 5 star hotel, exceptional for families as there are tons of activities for kids. They have a host of events for children and pools specifically for kids. Breakfast is a bit chaotic here and there's always a queue to get seated. A lot of the seating by the pool is only reserved for red level guests only which is annoying at busier times and can make it hard to find seats. There's an Avis car hire desk at the hotel, bit more expensive that hiring at the airport but you pay for the convenience of having the car dropped off at the hotel. Tons of street parking and you can pay €15 to park in the garage per night. Few shops walking distance and some restaurants too. View from our rooms was nice!”

“Muy buena atención por parte de todo el personal. Habitaciones amplias, buena comida, buen entretenimiento (para todos los gustos), buena ubicación y parking del hotel disponible para los huéspedes. Habría que mejorar/renovar el mobiliario, ya que se le notan los años…”
