The session begins in a peaceful setting within Xian’s historic city centre, where participants are welcomed into the world of Chinese calligraphy. Guided by experienced calligraphers, guests will discover the beauty of this ancient art, learning the flowing strokes that form the foundation of Chinese script. Calligraphy, which has been practiced for over a thousand years, is deeply connected to Chinese philosophy and aesthetics. Starting with bamboo slips, a traditional writing material, guests will explore how each character carries layers of meaning. Beyond mastering the technique, they will gain insight into how calligraphy reflects the harmony, balance, and discipline that are central to Chinese culture and thought.

What does it include? Guidance from skilled calligraphers, writing on bamboo slips, seal carving, personal creations. (Meal at Yuet Fu Restaurant not included).

In addition to mastering the brush, participants will be introduced to the ancient practice of seal carving. This process involves engraving symbols onto stone to create personalised seals, a tradition once used to signify authority and identity in Chinese society.

Each stroke, whether on paper or stone, reveals not only the technical skill behind the art but also the deeper meanings that have carried through Chinese history. By the end of the session, guests will leave with their own bamboo writings and carved seals, serving as a tangible reminder of their cultural journey.

To complete this enriching experience, guests will be treated to a traditional Chinese meal at the hotel’s Yuet Fu Restaurant. The dining experience is a journey in itself, offering a selection of refined local dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of the region. Each course is thoughtfully prepared, balancing flavours and textures to provide an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine.
