Every autumn, Munich hosts one of the most famous popular celebrations in the world: the Oktoberfest. For just over two weeks, the Theresienwiese (meaning "Theresa's Meadow", and the large esplanade where the Oktoberfest is held, a tradition that began in 1810 with the wedding of the then Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Theresa of Saxe-Hildburghausen) becomes a huge fair where large beer tents coexist with Bavarian gastronomy, live music, attractions, and traditions that have been part of the city's identity for over two centuries. And although beer is one of its main protagonists, the Oktoberfest is also an opportunity to get closer to the culture and customs of Bavaria.

“Our favorite stop in all of Africa! We’ve been traveling extensively ( Tanzania is our 74 th country), and have stayed in a lot of high-end properties all over the world. Melia Arusha is right at the top. We loved the overall vibe there! We stayed at Melia twice on this trip — 2 nights before our safari and then came back for 3 more nights after. Honestly, it was one of the best places we’ve stayed in the whole of Africa. The view of Mt Meru was amazing! The gardens were just beautiful. Walking around you’ve got coffee trees, avocado trees, herbs everywhere, and wonderful birds. We loved seeing the giant Kingfisher, a resident bird. It really feels like a little oasis right in Arusha. The service was what really made it though. So thoughtful and proactive without being over the top. They upgraded us on both occasions, left a lovely birthday treat in the room, and the staff were amazing both times. The management team was fantastic — they addressed some small issues proactively and made us feel really looked after. The breakfast buffet was a highlight every day. Their homemade breads and fresh avocado salads were a dream. The pain au chocolats there and in the coffee shop were absolutely insane. So were the alfajores! Their pastry chef deserves a medal! My son loved the calamari steaks on the Rooftop, and said the fish tacos he ate a few times at the Garden Café were the best he’s eaten. Kudos to the chefs! If we ever come back to Arusha, we’ll 100% stay at Melia again. Thank you to the whole team for making both stays great!”

“Excellent service, beautiful rooms, delicious buffet meals and wonderful gardens. Only the picnic lunch boxes are not good, cold chips and dry bread rolls.”

“We stayed at the Grand Melia Arusha for a few nights before and after our safari. Highly recommend as a base to start/end a safari. The grounds were beautiful, we enjoyed walking around. The hotel facilities are fantastic: - the hotel gym is 1st class for a hotel gym - very spacious and extremely well equipped. - the sauna & steam rooms were brillant - the pool is very nice - and we had a fantastic massage in the spa! The food and drinks were delicious - we particularly enjoyed the cocktails from the different bars, the roof top one has a particularly nice view.”
