“My wife and I stayed at this ‘luxury eco-hotel’ for several nights in February 2025 as part of a 7 day safari arranged by Altezza Travel. It is luxurious, beautiful, spacious and the staff are first class (more helpful and genuine than anywhere we have travelled in North America, UK, or Europe). The rooms are spacious with lovely fittings and a huge TV plus good internet. The buffet breakfast and supper (evening meal) are AMAZING (and we follow a whole-food plant based vegan diet) with sections of gluten free options as well. There is a good exercise facility as well as a cute ‘workshop’ area where they do glass-blowing and traditional weaving with a shop selling these and related products. I would say this is a perfect place to stay for Westerners at the start (or end) of a safari.”

“STOP 🛑! Read this! - if you are headed to Arusha(probably for Kilimanjaro or safari) you need to stay at gran melia! This hotel is 100% adapted for white films and has the menu and hospitality to prove it! The meat and veggies am served at the hotel at raised in property and have the best tase you ever had. The rooms and view are beautiful but be careful to stay on an upper level of the “Mountain View” side.”

“We stayed at the Gran Melia Arusha for 2 nights before going on safari. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. There was a conference or several meetings during our stay so there were times were there weren't available seats in their lobby or lounge area but otherwise, it was a great place to lounge. The food was good and they were accommodating when I communicated my seafood allergy on a night where most of the dinner was seafood.”

“We arrived at the hotel after staying in moshi, this hotel is absolutely stunning from the minute you pull into it and the service is great instantly too. Our room wasn’t ready so we went to the pool bar and ordered food, this took a little while to get to us but we weren’t bothered as the views are amazing, it’s so beautifully designed and mt meru was obviously in the background, the food itself was delicious, we had pizza and the salmon bagel and the portion plus taste made it fantastic. Our room was stunning, well cleaned, great view and very modern. No faults at all. Plus I managed to watch the football (utd fan) which was a nice touch. The roof top bar was again, faultless for us. Great service, great food and great drinks. The gym and spa is delightful. We found no faults for this stunning hotel and can’t wait to go back today for one more night before flying home.”

“Das Melia Arusha ist ein sehr schönes und gepflegtes Hotel mit einem herausragenden Service. Alle Mitarbeiter waren äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend, was den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm gemacht hat. Die Preise sind allerdings für tansanische Verhältnisse recht hoch. Für zwei Übernachtungen haben wir über 800 Euro gezahlt – und das zunächst ohne Blick auf den Mount Meru. Glücklicherweise haben wir ein kostenfreies Upgrade auf ein Zimmer mit Bergblick erhalten, was den Aufenthalt wirklich spektakulär gemacht hat. Der Blick war atemberaubend und absolut lohnenswert. Die Zimmer sind hervorragend eingerichtet und lassen keine Wünsche offen. Es fehlt einem an nichts. Jeden Tag werden zwei große Flaschen Wasser bereitgestellt, und zudem erhält man immer wieder kleine Snacks aufs Zimmer – eine sehr nette Geste. Die Außenanlage des Hotels ist großartig. Es gibt einen großen 50-Meter-Pool mit Liegen im Wasser und außerhalb des Pools. Der Handtuchservice ist exzellent, und es gibt viele Sitzmöglichkeiten rund um den Pool, wo man auch frühstücken kann. Eine Poolbar ist ebenfalls vorhanden, die wir allerdings nicht genutzt haben. Besonders beeindruckend ist der Garten des Hotels. Er ist sehr gepflegt und großzügig angelegt. Auf dem Gelände wird eigener Kaffee angebaut, der auch im Hotel angeboten wird. Außerdem gibt es einen hoteleigenen Gemüsegarten. Während einer Besichtigung wurde uns dieser von den Gärtnern liebevoll und stolz vorgestellt. Ein Highlight war es, den Chefkoch dabei zu beobachten, wie er selbst frisches Gemüse und Kräuter direkt aus dem Garten holte – genau so sollte es sein! Einfach ein Traum. Während unseres Aufenthalts wurde an einem kleinen Fluss gearbeitet, der durch die Anlage fließt. Ein Bagger und viele Mitarbeiter waren im Einsatz, um diesen Bereich zu verschönern. Uns hat das nicht gestört, auch wenn es hin und wieder leicht modrig gerochen hat. Das Frühstück war fantastisch. Es gab alles, was man sich nur wünschen konnte. Besonders beeindruckend war die Aufmerksamkeit der Mitarbeiter. Oft hatten sie bereits erkannt, dass man etwas benötigte, bevor man es selbst kommuniziert hatte. Absolut professionell! Auch das Abendessen im Hotel war sehr gut. Das Buffet war reichhaltig und lecker. Allerdings war der Preis von über 50 Euro pro Person recht hoch, was man bei der Qualität aber noch verkraften kann. Ein besonderes Highlight war die Dachterrasse des Hotels. Der Ausblick auf den Mount Meru und die Umgebung war atemberaubend, und die angebotenen Drinks waren ebenfalls sehr gut. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt: Die Wartezeiten auf der Dachterrasse waren recht lang. Hier könnte das Hotel noch etwas nachbessern. Insgesamt war unser Aufenthalt im Melia Arusha so schön, dass ich mir zukünftig auch andere Häuser dieser Hotelkette ansehen möchte. Das Hotel hat einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen, und ich würde jederzeit gerne wiederkommen.”

“Top to bottom excellent quality in service, food, staff, rooms are beautiful and spacious and clean, pool and gardens are really spectacular and the rooftop restaurant is probably the best in Arusha with unbelievable views of Mount Meru, this property is head and shoulders above the rest in Arusha and well worth the splurge to start or finish your adventure in Tanzania. Gym is very well equipped and spa was excellent as well.”
