The atmosphere of a romantic getaway in Croatia does not depend on a single service. For many couples, having time to slow down, enjoy the surroundings and alternate activities with moments of rest is what shapes the experience.
The four Meliá properties in Poreč and Umag include swimming pools, while Garden Suites Umag Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá and Residence Garden Istra Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá also feature spa facilities. These spaces can provide a relaxing counterpoint to days spent discovering the coast.
Beyond the hotels, couples can make gastronomy, coastal scenery and walks by the Adriatic part of their itinerary. A honeymoon or anniversary can combine planned experiences with quieter moments, leaving room to explore Istria as a couple without an overly structured schedule.
Poreč provides a coastal setting for couples who want to combine time by the Adriatic Sea with walks and cultural discoveries. It is home to Hotel Mediteran Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá, offering a base from which to explore this part of the Istrian peninsula.
Umag, also on the Istrian coast, is home to Apartments Amfora Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá, Garden Suites Umag Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá and Residence Garden Istra Plava Laguna Affiliated by Meliá. Its seaside setting suits couples looking for a relaxed coastal stay with opportunities to explore the surrounding area.
Together, Poreč and Umag provide two different bases for discovering destination Croatia and the landscapes of Istria during a trip for two.
Pula Airport is one of the main gateways for reaching Istria and travelling onwards to Poreč and Umag. Transfer options and journey times depend on the chosen destination and mode of transport, so it is useful to plan this part of the trip in advance.
Late spring and early autumn can be particularly appealing for couples who want to explore the coast in generally milder conditions. Summer suits travellers looking to make the most of the Adriatic seaside atmosphere, while the quieter periods outside the main summer season can offer a different experience of Istria.
When comparing romantic hotels in Croatia, we recommend thinking about how you want to spend your days together. The right choice can depend on whether you prioritise relaxation by a swimming pool, access to wellness facilities, flexibility or the opportunity to explore different parts of the Istrian coast.
The right choice depends on the destination, accommodation style and facilities you prefer. Within Meliá's selection, couples can choose between four properties in Poreč and Umag, including hotels, suites and apartments with swimming pools and, at selected properties, spa facilities.
