“전체적으로 만족과 아쉬움이 공존했던 숙박이었다. 다만 리조트 측에서 리뷰에 민감하게 반응하는 분위기가 느껴졌고 실제로 일부 부정적인 후기가 사라진 점은 조금 의아했다. 그럼에도 직접 경험한 기준으로 정리해본다. 1. 위생 (★★★☆☆) 기존 후기에서도 위생 관련 이슈가 있었는데 우리 역시 투숙 중 장염 증상을 겪었다. 정확한 원인을 단정할 수는 없지만 뷔페 음식이 상온에 장시간 노출되어 있던 점이 영향을 준 것으로 추측된다. 다만 6박 중 3박차 즈음부터 운영 방식이 바뀌었고 외부에 진열되어 있던 음식들이 전부 실내 냉방 공간으로 이동했다. 그 과정에서 시원한 바람을 맞으며 식사하던 공간은 사라졌지만 전반적으로 문제를 인지하고 개선하려는 모습은 긍정적으로 느껴졌다. 2. 분실 및 보상 이슈 (★★★☆☆) 도난 관련 리뷰가 있었다는 이야기를 들었는데 현재는 해당 후기들이 보이지 않는다. 우리도 대여한 오리발이 분실되는 일이 있었고 발코니에 둔 상태에서 객실 이동 중 발생한 일이라 책임 소재가 명확하지 않았지만 리조트 측에서는 이용객 책임으로 판단하여 약 10만원 정도를 배상했다. 확인 가능한 CCTV 등이 없는 구조라 추가적으로 대응하기는 어려웠고 여행 분위기를 고려해 비용을 지불했다. 요청하니 보험 처리를 위한 증빙 서류는 제공해 주었다. 3. 리조트 변경 이슈 (★★★☆☆) 이곳은 원래 ‘Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives’였던 리조트가 운영 주체가 변경된 케이스다. 예약 이후 별도 안내 없이 변경되어 당황스러웠고 초기에는 평점이 상당히 낮았던 것으로 보인다. 현재는 어느 정도 안정화된 모습이지만 직원 서비스나 운영 측면에서 아직은 교육이 완전히 자리 잡지 않은 느낌이 있다. 그래도 전반적으로 개선하려는 흐름은 보인다. 4. 객실 수압 (★★☆☆☆) 전반적으로 샤워기 수압이 상당히 약한 편이다. 별도로 필터 샤워기를 준비해 갔음에도 불구하고 시원하게 씻기 어렵다는 느낌을 받았다. 다만 워터빌라 객실의 경우 수압이 상대적으로 괜찮았고 객실 타입에 따라 편차가 있는 것으로 보인다. 이 부분은 체류 만족도에 영향을 주는 요소라 예약 시 참고하면 좋다. 5. 액티비티 (★★★★☆) 다양한 해양 액티비티와 체험 프로그램이 잘 마련되어 있어 리조트 내에서 보내는 시간이 길어도 지루하지 않게 즐길 수 있었다. 6. 직원 서비스 이슈 (★★☆☆☆) 숙박 중 일부 직원의 응대 태도는 상당히 아쉬웠다. 특정 국적에 대한 차별이라기보다는 모든 투숙객에게 전반적으로 무뚝뚝하고 불친절하게 대응하는 스타일로 느껴졌다. 개인적으로는 응대 과정에서 기분이 상할 정도였고 결국 숙박 중간에 구글맵 리뷰로 해당 내용을 남겼다. 이후 리조트 측에서 사과를 받았고 다른 직원이 대신 응대를 맡아주면서 상황은 어느 정도 정리되었다. 다만 해당 직원은 이후에도 감정이 남은 듯한 태도로 응대하는 모습이 보여 서비스 교육이 더 필요해 보였다. 총평 완벽하게 만족스러운 리조트라고 보기는 어렵지만 문제를 인지하고 하나씩 개선해 나가는 과정에 있는 곳이라는 인상을 받았다. 위생 서비스 시설 등 일부 아쉬운 부분은 분명 존재하지만 액티비티와 자연환경 자체의 매력은 충분하다. 현재 기준으로는 약간의 불편을 감수할 수 있다면 고려해볼 수 있는 리조트다 한국인 여행객 기준에서는 식사의 중요도가 높은 만큼 이 리조트보다는 전반적으로 음식 퀄리티가 더 안정적인 다른 리조트를 우선적으로 고려하는 것을 추천한다. 자연환경과 액티비티는 충분히 매력적이지만 현재 기준에서는 식사 만족도를 중요하게 생각한다면 아쉬움이 남을 수 있는 곳이다.”

“We had a wonderful time on Whale Lagoon Island. It is an absolute paradise. The island is not too big so we could walk everywhere easily. The food was delicious and the whole staff was always really helpful. For the breakfast buffet it would be nice to have more fresh fruit and less pastry. In a country where so much different fruit grows, it’s a pity when only watermelon, honey melon and pineapple and sometimes papayas is offered for breakfast. The dive center is excellent! A special thank you to Maiz and Jai, our dive masters. They took us to some wonderful dive sites and helped us feel comfortable under water after not diving for a long time. Also Marti gave us an interesting tour of the local neighbour island. The prices for diving are quite high, but probably they’re the same on all the islands.
