Taking a walk through the bustling Alfama district, admiring its beautiful old buildings, viewpoints and bars, is a great way to start discovering one of the most charismatic cities in Portugal. At the Porta do Sol you can start the day with a coffee with the pastel-coloured houses on one side and the River Tagus on the other. Alfama is also home to the National Pantheon, where many national heroes and famous people have been laid to rest. Bélem is another very pretty district where you can enjoy the cakes with the same name. Boarding the historic Amaraillo 28 Tram will take you back in time as you tour the historic centre. The Sé is the name of the Romanesque cathedral. Don’t leave without admiring the views from the Santa Justa elevator.
