Located at the entrance to the Panama Canal, this picturesque port city on the Caribbean coast is home to the Agua Clara Locks Visitor Centre. A great place to see the enormous force of the Atlantic.
Guardian of the Atlantic
The port of entry to the Panama Canal. A beautiful city that many people call a shopping paradise as it’s huge free-trade area allows tax-free shopping. And while it’s true that the shopping is great in Colón, it’s not the only thing to do. We also recommend strolling through the historic centre of the city and visiting the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Visiting Lake Gatun and the locks are also a must if you visit Colón on vacation. At the mouth of the Chagres River is the Fort of San Lorenzo, a colonial fort in a surprisingly good state of preservation.
