Ich war kurz vor der Hauptsaison dort — Ende Mai, mit meiner Mutter. Das Hotel war ruhig, entspannt, fast leer wirkend. Ob das in der Hochsaison genauso ist, kann ich nicht sagen. Ich tippe aber: ja, dafür ist die Anlage einfach zu weitläufig.
Die Lage ist das erste, was einen trifft. Kein Straßenlärm, keine Nachbarhotels, kein Trubel — nur das Paradisus, das benachbarte Zel by Meliá, und dahinter Ozean, Strand und eine Lagune, die je nach Licht anders aussieht. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier richtig. Wer Abwechslung außerhalb des Hotels braucht, sollte ein Auto einplanen — das ist keine Kritik, nur eine realistische Einschätzung der Lage.
Standard oder Reserve — das ist hier die eigentliche Frage
Das Hotel funktioniert auf zwei Ebenen, und es lohnt sich, das vor der Buchung zu verstehen. Als normaler Gast bekommt man ein sehr gutes 5-Sterne-Hotel: großzügige Zimmer, hochwertige Ausstattung, schöne Poolanlage, Buffet-Frühstück im Hauptrestaurant. Das ist solide und nichts zu beanstanden.
Mit Reserve-Kategorie ändert sich der Charakter des Aufenthalts spürbar. Eigener Pool, eigene Liegen, eigene Bar — ruhiger, privater, eine andere Atmosphäre. Das Frühstück wechselt vom Buffet in ein À-la-carte-Restaurant mit Bedienung, Meerblick und einer Karte, die Kaviar, Austern und Champagner beinhaltet. Kein Zusatz, keine Aufzahlung — einfach inklusive. Wer einmal dort gefrühstückt hat, versteht, warum man nicht zurück möchte.
Als Platinum-Gast
Das Upgrade wurde problemlos umgesetzt, Late Checkout bis 14 Uhr ohne Diskussion. Einmal pro Aufenthalt ist ein Dinner im Mahos inklusive — das Restaurant des Sternekochs im Haus, kein symbolischer Gutschein, sondern ein echter Abend. Kleine Aufmerksamkeiten im Zimmer über die 8 Nächte verteilt, das Personal durchgehend aufmerksam ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Ein Wunsch nach einem Balkonzimmer auf der obersten Etage wurde einen Tag später erfüllt — ich hatte angefragt, um von oben fotografieren zu können. Von dort sieht man alles auf einmal: den Pool, die Palmen, die Lagune, die Wüste dahinter, den Ozean. Eines meiner stärksten Bilder dieser Reise.
Was man wissen sollte
Der Transfer vom Flughafen ist ausschließlich für Circle-Member — wer darunter liegt, organisiert die Anreise selbst. Einfach vorab wissen.
Wer morgens das „Nicht stören”-Schild hängen lässt, verzichtet an dem Tag auf die Zimmerreinigung — abends kamen aber zuverlässig Wasser und Kühlschrank-Auffüllung. Kein Problem, nur gut zu wissen.
Für Familien mit Kindern ab 5 Jahren gibt es den Kidsdom — einen betreuten Kinderbereich im Hotel, Eltern müssen nicht dabei bleiben. Das Hotel bleibt dabei trotzdem ruhig und wirkt nie überfüllt oder laut.
Fazit
Ich komme wieder. Für Paare, die wirklich abschalten wollen, ist es eine der besseren Adressen die ich kenne. Familien sind willkommen, Fotografen ohnehin — die Kombination aus Architektur, Lagune und Licht ist selten. Wer bucht, sollte sich vorher ehrlich fragen: reicht Standard, oder ist Reserve das, was man sich eigentlich vorstellt?”

“The facilities are awesome! The resort after the renovation felt modern, but sometimes you can still find traces from the old hotel. The downsides are the food and the wind, we did not try the lemon fish restaurant but everything besides the Italian one just felt cheap and low quality, everything in the kanna restaurant basically has no salt or spices whatsoever, the burger in beach bar is wet and the fries tasted like frozen ones. The buffet has a very underwhelming selection of warm, especially Spanish or local food and seem to be mainly consisting of Asian food which (we are from asia) is also not very good. The steak in the buffet is also very low quality and overcooked.
It’s also worth mentioning that all menus across many melia paradisus resorts are very similar.
Otherwise, service is really good, rooms are nice and modern, and we especially loved the big pool where they also host various activities.
Thanks to Melia‘s „Destinstion Inclusive“ Concept, a visit to a museum of your choice is included, we went with the goat cheese museum+tasting, a very interesting experience.
Conclusion:
It’s a nice resort but the food isn’t worth it since it’s a all inclusive resort”
