“The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and the staff is courteous. A bit far from city center (La Scala), but the courtesy car makes going there easy. Breakfast is just ok. The most unusual part is that hotel attempts to quietly impose 5% tip to itself (based on the total room cost). For me the "tip" amount was in hundreds of euros. I have not seen this charge in any of the hundreds of hotels that I stayed in across the world. Hotel does not warn about this "tip to the hotel" anywhere and it only shows on the final bill as a "service charge". Obviously this has no relation to the services provided by hotel employees, as those do not depend on the room category and price. Also, most people tip employees (room service, bellman, concierge, waiter) in cash at the time of service. So, all things considered, this is just a corporate scam on unsuspecting guests. The charge can be removed on request - inspect your bill at checkout.”
