The 29-metre-tall Savudrija lighthouse is the oldest in Croatia and shows the way to Umag from the south of the Gulf of Trieste. Next to Liberty Square, the central hub of the city, is the beautiful 16th-century Church of the Assumption with its Baroque-influenced façade. At the entrance to the old town, the 16th-century Church of San Roche is home to some beautiful oil paintings. The small city museum is also well worth a visit. And if you plan to spend your holidays in Umag, another alternative is just to bask in the sun on one of its many beaches, the most popular of which are Aurora, Canova, Kanegra and Sol Polynesia.
