The Plaza de Armas is a magnificent place to start exploring Lima. It is surrounded by some of the most stunning buildings in the city, such as the cathedral, a magnificent example of colonial architecture, or the neo-colonial Municipal Palace. The city opens onto a magnificent bay that ends at La Punta. Its beaches are perfect for surfing. The popular district of Miraflores is home to the Parque del Amor, with mosaics reminiscent of Parc Güell in Barcelona. The Barranco district is an old fishing village and is the most bohemian part of the city. Huaca Pullcana is an archaeological area which was once home to a pre-Inca civilization.
