Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa

“Hemos disfrutado de una estancia fantástica en el hotel Meliá Llana. El hotel está bien cuidado, tiene varias piscinas, SPA y cuenta con varios restaurantes que ofrecen una gran variedad de opciones. Queremos destacar especialmente la calidad del servicio. Todo el personal fue amable, profesional y siempre dispuesto a ayudar con una gran sonrisa. En especial Viviane Fonseca y Elisete Mendes, ellas fueron nuestro principal contacto a la llegada y durante la estancia, nos recibieron, resolvieron todas nuestras dudas y estuvieron pendiente durante la estancia. Es importante tener en cuenta que Cabo Verde es un país en vías de desarrollo y que, en ocasiones, pueden existir pequeñas limitaciones o deficiencias ajenas al hotel. Esto atribuye aún más mérito el excelente nivel de servicio que ofrecen, teniendo en cuenta las complejidades logísticas propias de la isla y del destino en general. Sin duda, recomendamos este hotel y esperamos volver en el futuro.”

“We stayed at Melia Llana for 7 days and had a great experience. The staff were a true highlight and went above and beyond for the guests. Most notably, the man at reception (I didn’t catch a name!) was so helpful with our luggage and making sure we knew where we were going. They checked in with us regularly, helped us with hailing taxis, and answering any questions. Their English was also very impressive and appreciated. The best service I have had on a holiday by far! On arrival, we had no hot water. We asked reception to fix this, and it was not dealt with until the next day. Although it took a while, the staff were very apologetic and we had no issues for the remainder of our trip. The site itself was beautiful, with large pools and access to the other Melia hotels should you wish. Sunbed wars were never a thing, they were plentiful and surprisingly comfortable! No need to bring your own towels, pay a €20 deposit to have them fresh every day & receive this payment back at the end! One thing with the sites, I have returned home with a LOT of bites, assuming from mosquitos. Of course, this is no direct fault of the hotel, but something for them to look to improve & for guests to bear in mind when packing! I have since had to have antibiotics upon arrival home due to having over 30 bites over the course of the week which have now become infected as they are so big. A call out to the medic is 90€ - 130€ at the hotel, so I would STRONGLY recommend bug spray. We could not find any to purchase on site, and if the hotel has a problem (as it clearly does, as we saw most people had bites), maybe this should be given as standard. There were also LOTS of small ant like creatures we had to kill in the bathroom multiple times a day. The food was satisfactory, with breakfast being pretty standard but a nice variety in the evenings, always something different on offer. The staff were again very attentive, assuring drinks were filled & the area was clean. The snack bar between the pools also offered a nice range of options and was an easy option on a pool day. On site, there are two shops to purchase souvenirs & other items, both reasonably priced, but given the convenience, are slightly up priced compared to in the town of Santa Maria. There are plenty of bars and places to socialise, so it is never cramped. The evening entertainment could be slightly more interesting and varied, as often it is only musicians for around an hour, often the same people multiple nights. The hotel are VERY keen to push for VIP access, which is 50€ per person per day. We arrived on the Friday and were told that this would give us access to a White Party happening at Bikini Beach - this was NOT true, as the event is free to enter for EVERYONE!! I believe it may cover the cost of drinks, but two drinks cost us under 10€ at the event, so very lucky we did not pay for this despite being told we needed it for entry!! You do receive access to the spa, a separate bar and pool, but these did seem small and not worth the cost so we did not purchase, as we were satisfied with the other free access areas. Overall we had a lovely stay at Melia Llana and would happily return if given the opportunity.”
