What makes the visit to the Cuevas del Drach so special is that the experience is not limited to seeing a cave. The entire route is designed for you to discover different spaces little by little, almost as if you were advancing through a giant natural stage.
During the visit, you pass through enormous halls filled with stalactites and stalagmites that have formed slowly over thousands of years. Some areas have very high ceilings, and others look like small tunnels illuminated with soft lights that make the atmosphere even more spectacular.
One of the aspects that usually attracts the most attention is the silence and the sense of depth. At times, it's even hard to believe that all of this exists underground.
And, as I mentioned, the most special moment arrives at the end of the visit, when the lights go out and the concert on Lake Martel begins. The atmosphere changes completely as small illuminated boats appear sailing on the water while live classical music plays.
Knowing the location of the Cuevas del Drach is key to being able to go directly and make the most of your travel time, especially during high season.
The Cuevas del Drach are located in the municipality of Manacor, right at the entrance to the town of Porto Cristo. The area is beautiful because you have the port very close by, which I recommend visiting after your tour.
Porto Cristo, Manacor, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain.
The truth is that getting to the Cuevas del Drach is very easy, and in fact, I would dare say it's one of the best-signposted sites on the entire island.
By car, the journey usually takes around an hour from Palma de Mallorca, depending on traffic. You just need to head towards Manacor and then follow the signs for Porto Cristo.
There are also several bus lines that will drop you off practically at the door (like the 401 from Palma), so it's not a problem if you don't have a car.
If you travel on this line (the 401), pay close attention to the schedules, as some services have a stop called "Coves del Drac" which takes you to the entrance of the complex. If you get off at the stops in the centre of Porto Cristo, you will only have to walk about 15 minutes following the signs indicating the route to the caves.
The parking at the Cuevas del Drach is very close to the main entrance and is usually quite convenient for parking, although during high season (July and August), it can fill up quickly, especially between mid-morning and early afternoon.
It is one of the best-rated experiences in Mallorca. The majority of reviews about the Cuevas del Drach are very positive, making it clear that it is a highly recommended plan.
The reviews highlight that the interior is much more impressive than they expected, but undoubtedly, the concert on the lake is the moment that receives the most positive comments. They describe it as something different and quite special, especially due to the silence and the lighting of the place.
As a less positive point, some comments agree that in summer there can be quite a few groups entering at the same time.

If you're planning to visit Cuevas del Drach, here are some tips that can help you enjoy the experience more and avoid common minor issues.
To enjoy the site without rushing, it's important to be clear about the times and schedules:
Here are several plans you can take advantage of before or after your visit to the Cuevas del Drach:
Just a few minutes' walk away is the port of Porto Cristo, an area with a lot of history, ideal for a stroll, a meal, or a drink by the sea after your visit.
Also very close by are the Cuevas dels Hams, another quite famous underground complex on the island. Although they are smaller, they are worth visiting and are particularly famous for their hook-shaped formations.
In summary, the Cuevas del Drach are one of those visits that end up being much more surprising than expected. The underground landscape, the concert, and the atmosphere make it a completely different experience from any other plan, allowing you to discover a different side of the island.

The Cuevas del Drach are one of those places that almost everyone recommends visiting at least once when doing tourism in Mallorca. And when you enter, you quickly understand why, as the change is total. You go from the heat and light of the outside to an underground world full of rock, silence, and hidden lakes beneath the earth.
Located in the Porto Cristo area, the Cuevas del Drach are part of one of the most famous natural complexes on the entire island. The visit combines nature, history, and spectacle in a tour that usually surprises even those who are not great fans of this type of excursion.
The most famous feature is Lake Martel, a huge underground lake that is one of the largest in Europe, where a live classical music concert has been held since 1935. In my opinion, this is the most special moment of the visit, as the sound is incredible due to the acoustics of the place.
