What you will find is a system of caves that make it a unique destination, especially if you are looking for nature in its purest form.

What really sets Cala Varques beach apart from other tourist areas is its isolation. Because it is far from urban centres and has no direct road access, it remains practically unspoilt.
The cove is approximately 70-90 metres long, with fine sand and rocky areas at the ends that are perfect for a walk or snorkelling. Its waters are transparent and shallow, allowing you to enjoy a calm swim without waves.
One of its great attractions is the famous Cala Varques cave, completely natural, which is located right by the sea. It is also common to see rock arches and geological formations that add a unique character to the landscape.
In addition, taking an excursion to Cala Varques is an experience in itself, because the path towards it crosses several areas of Mediterranean forest and offers incredible views of the coastline.

When you see a photo, the first thing you ask yourself is how to get to Cala Varques. Well, you should know that there is no direct access by car, and that is why I want to emphasise the importance of planning.
From Palma de Mallorca, the journey takes approximately one hour. You must take the road that connects Porto Cristo with Porto Colom (Ma-4014), and then the turn-off towards Camí de Cala Varques.
Once in the area, you will have to walk between 15 and 30 minutes along a path that crosses fields and forest. It seems like a lot, but it will be worth it. And, although it is not complicated, I recommend wearing comfortable footwear.
You should know that there is no official Cala Varques car park. There are areas where you can leave the car in the surroundings of the road, but it is important to always do so in compliance with the regulations. I must warn you that parking on the hard shoulder is prohibited, and it is likely that when you return, you will find a fine or your car will have been towed.
The safest option is to leave the vehicle in permitted areas of the nearby urbanisations or in the signposted lay-bys on the Ma-4014 road. From there, the walk to the coast is a bit longer, but you will ensure you enjoy the day without unpleasant surprises.
Most reviews of Cala Varques point in the same direction, agreeing to highlight its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere as the main attractions of “one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca”.
What people like least is the access on foot and the lack of services, although this is precisely part of its charm. It is probably not the best option if you are travelling with children or elderly people.

As I have already said, visiting Cala Varques requires some planning, as it has no services or direct access. Bring water, food, and everything you need to spend the day. Don't forget comfortable footwear for the access walk.
It is also important that you arrive early, the sooner the better, to find a spot and avoid the hottest hours on the path.
