On the northwest coast of Mallorca, Cala Tuent is a place that surprises you from the very first moment, where there are no large hotels around or a crowded promenade. Here, the focus is on the landscape, where huge mountains, crystal-clear water and a sense of tranquillity that is hard to find all coexist.
It is one of the places to visit in Mallorca that I always like to recommend. The beach of Cala Tuent is surrounded by the impressive Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site, which is why it offers a more natural and authentic setting than other beaches in Mallorca. And that is what makes it a unique corner.

The best thing about Cala Tuent is the setting. The beach is nestled between mountains and pine forests, creating a landscape very different from the typical small white sand coves that usually come to mind when we think of Mallorca. The beach combines sand and pebbles, and the water is usually very clear and calm, making it perfect for enjoying a quiet swim or snorkelling near the rocks.
Another thing that is most striking is the silence. There are no large buildings or too many services here, so the atmosphere is much more relaxed. Close your eyes and relax listening to the sound of the waves.
But, if you ask me what to see in Cala Tuent, I would tell you not to just stay on the beach. The journey along the road to Sa Calobra is an adventure in itself, with iconic spots such as the Nus de sa Corbata (Tie Knot), where the road turns 360 degrees on itself.
It is also a strategic point for hiking, connecting with legendary routes for lovers of this sport.
The first thing is to be clear about the location of Cala Tuent and know how to access it, as this will make it much easier for you to arrive and enjoy. I should warn you that it is not a beach you can reach in five minutes.
Cala Tuent is located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, in a fairly isolated area surrounded by nature. It is close to the famous Sa Calobra, but for me, it has a much more authentic atmosphere.

If you search on Google for how to get to Cala Tuent, you will see that the most recommended option is to go by car from Palma de Mallorca. In this case, you have to take the road to Sa Calobra, one of the most beautiful and winding roads on the island. Shortly before reaching the bottom, you will see the turn-off to Cala Tuent. The journey usually takes about an hour and a half.
The car park in Cala Tuent is quite close to the beach. It is small, so in summer it usually fills up quickly. It is best to arrive early if you want to park nearby and avoid driving around. The advantage is that, once you leave the car, the access to the beach is very short and comfortable. Remember to always park where it is permitted so as not to have any surprises when you return.
Most reviews of Cala Tuent agree that it is an authentic paradise for those looking for peace and nature. One of the things that is most highlighted is that it is a "real" beach, one of those that keep the Mallorcan spirit intact. The clean water and the relaxed atmosphere that can be felt even in summer are also highly valued.
What is least liked is that it is stony and that there are no services, although for lovers of nature, that is precisely what gives it its charm.

If you are going to spend the day in Cala Tuent, take drinks and food, as there are no shops of any kind nearby. Likewise, make sure you have a full tank of petrol in your car because there are no petrol stations there.
It is also important that you arrive early to find a spot on the sand. And, to swim in total comfort, remember your water shoes, because the ground is pebbly.
The area has several corners that are well worth visiting to complete your trip and not just stay on the beach. If you feel like moving around a bit, here are several plans to do near Cala Tuent.
Before going down to the beach, stop for a few minutes at the Cala Tuent viewpoint, which you will find on the road. From here you will enjoy one of the best views of this whole part of the coast, with the sea and the Puig Major in the background.
Very close by is Sa Calobra, one of the most famous places in Mallorca. Many people take the opportunity to visit both areas on the same day.
The surroundings of the Serra de Tramuntana have several mountain routes and paths through pine forests that are perfect if you are a lover of hiking and nature.
