Quiet, well located hotel that made it seem like you’re there by yourself. Pillows were fantastic but odd room set up w bathroom door not giving much privacy. Hallways were dark and had perfume sprayed. We had breakfast included and it was wonderful plus amazing coffee.

Traveling to London for the first time and we booked this hotel via American Express Fine Hotels+ Resorts. Location is perfect. Very central to most things a first time visitor would want to see and do. There’s a few train stops short walks away, close to bus stops, within walking distance to numerous bars, restaurants, and theaters along with other attractions. Our checkin was smooth but not informative. The man at the concierge desk (which is located on the 1st floor) was able to accommodate an early checkin (before 12pm). However none of the other benefits that comes with AmEx Fine Hotels+resorts were explained to us. Thus, we assumed we did not qualify for it? The hotel features and services were also not thoroughly explained to us. We were given our room keys and we were off on our own. Our checkin experience was significantly different from our friends who were also staying at the same hotel and did get welcome drink, personal escort to the room, luggage taken up to the room, explanation of all the perks and benefits as well as received a tour of the room and explained how each things worked. We did not get any of this. The hotel itself is very nice. It has a dark and moody ambiance with black polished marble-looking walls throughout the hotel. On the ground floor there is a welcome desk with attendant, and a seating area with a bar which seemed not to function at all times, and did not have the look nor the vibe of a typical hotel bar in high end 5-star hotels. The rooms were spacious. Lighting in the room was appropriate. We got the city view room. The window was angled and had sliding frosted doors to block the windows. It did not thoroughly block the morning light if you wanted to sleep in. The thermostat did not function properly- it was set to certain temp and we tried to lower it, but the room seemed to stay the same temp the entire night despite us lowering the temp every day. The bathroom came with his and her sinks with walk-in rain showers. The water pressure was excellent. The hotel has few restaurants. Luciano’s is the one where daily breakfast is offered by the hotel. It was told to us breakfast is from 7am-11am. We were surprised to be denied seating one morning when we arrived around 10:50am stating breakfast was over. After a few exchanges, and once we told the hostess that we were told breakfast is until 11am, reluctantly we got seated. Overall the hotel is very nice, comfortable stay, unique design, and most of the services were excellent. Few tweaks here and there would’ve made this a true 5-star experience.
