“After staying at Melia Ngorongoro and Melia Arusha, and after spending a few nights at Neptune next door, we were initially taken aback when we first got to the property. It's aged for sure. But some good pressure washing would help. And fountains are yellow with mildew. Water leaks in ceilings, mildew on the inside of glass water bottle cap, etc. etc etc. You get it....just needs more thorough cleaning routine. We've gotten used to at the other places I mentioned above. However, after the initial shock, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amazing staff. Great food (though lunch options are lacking). Beach is a decent golf cart ride away but worth it. We got a family suite which was just massive and perfect for us to spread out.”

“We only went there for dinner. Receptionist was very helpful to guide us around. The gardens are amazing. Tamu restaurant decor and service have exceeded our expectations. Very friendly and nice atmosphere, excellent service, food and wine.”

“We stayed at Melia for our honeymoon in a Romance Pavillion room, part of the Level. Was slightly nervous having seen some reviews online but needn’t have been - the experience was wonderful. The room was beautiful and just as good as the photos. The whole hotel had nice touches like animal sanctuaries. The facilities and range of restaurants was great and food on the whole was of very good quality! The staff were all great and made sure everything was as you needed. Particular shout out to Abdalla who went out his way to ensure we had everything we needed at meal time. Also a mention to Liliana who was so sweet and taught us how to play a traditional game - Bao. We used the spa and the massages were great too! Would recommend. (Optional excursion for additional cost: Wouldn’t recommend the visit to Mnemba Island - crowded with diesel smelling boats and didn’t feel too kind on wildlife - particularly the dolphins - but this is not a reflection on the hotel).”

“Incredible place. We came for our honeymoon for one week and stayed in 'The Level'. All of the staff made it a special experience. Special mentions for Lilian, Paul, Witness and Kawada in the Level restaurant, Said in The Level reception and Abass for teaching us the Bao game. We will never forget our time there and will definitely be back!”

“Beautiful resort, amazing food, and service. My wife and I have just returned from Melia Zanzibar for a weekend gateway, and we had a fantastic stay. We went with the full intention of relaxing and we achieved it in abundance, and this was possible with the help of people with the only objective to make every day you spend there, the best day of your life. And that includes literally everybody; from the people who move you around with buggies, to the people at the restaurants, the spa and obviously to the management team lead by the General Manager Nicolas and the Resort Manager Ricardo, who is always present and takes care of the physical well-being of his guests. All the restaurants should be visited at least once, and definitely don’t miss out the lobster fiesta night. It was an amazing display of creativity, with a local touch and great talent in the kitchen. The restaurant by the jetty for lunch was fantastic, and our lovely waitress Elizabeth made it even more memorable by her wonderful service and kind personality. A special thanks to Orio (The F&B Manager) who found the time to check on us. The pavilion is spacious and always clean. It's obvious that the room is regularly renovated and in excellent condition. The spacious outdoor balcony area also offers enough privacy and a beautiful pick of the sunset. Everything in the room is first class. In brief, the resort is well maintained and kept very clean, all the facilities are magnificent, the food is delicious and diverse, but the human factor is what really makes this place different than anything you have seen so far. We recommend this beautiful resort without hesitation if you decided to visit Zanzibar. We will be back. Patrick and Emelia #54”

“Stayed at Meliá Zanzibar for my 5 year anniversary with my husband and it was fantastic. We stayed in the Romance pavilion, which was so beautiful. I worked with Issa Amin in guest experiences to surprise my husband with a romantic dinner for our anniversary. It was supposed to be a beach dinner, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. Luckily the staff were able to set it up in a villa and it was so romantic. They were able to accommodate my dietary needs with no issues and the food was absolutely delicious. I would absolutely recommend to anyone and hope to come back soon”

“We had the most incredible stay at the Melia hotel, I honestly couldn't recommend enough. We stayed for a full week and left the hotel feeling re-energised and relaxed. The staff are incredible, and very thoughtful. Alphonse and Paul at the breakfast in particular, whenever they would see us arrive, they would remember our drinks order and reconfirm those with us. Same with our specific avocado request, they always made sure to tailor to our requests and this was very much appreciated. Abdalla from Gabi beach always came to check in on us to make sure that we had everything we needed during our beach days! Thank you to Vikram who also made sure that our stay was seamless and who made sure we were having a great time. The GM of the hotel, Nicolas, who's been living in Zanzibar for more than 8 years now, made sure to check in with us and gave us some great recommendations for activities on the island! Food wise it was really good, every evening is a different theme night and the food diversity is great. We particularly loved the dinner on Gabi beach one evening! I would also highly recommend dinner at the Jetty one evening - the fresh fish was incredible. The view in the daytime is also extremely special. We stayed in a pavilion at Level and the room was breathtaking! We got to see the most beautiful sunrise every morning, it was truly mesmerising! The team always made sure that the mini bar was stocked up and that we were not missing anything. If you enjoy a workout, the gym with a few on an infinity pool is equally as beautiful! The resort in itself is truly beautiful because the land is spread out so you never feel crowded or on 'top of each other', there is space, there's some cute animals (rescue donkeys) and if you're lucky you can see bush babies! If you're visiting Zanzibar, I cannot recommend enough to stay at the Melia with Nicolas Konig and his amazing team”

“We loved the Level premium service, the staff were friendly, we had a Romance beach bungalow facing the sea, it was beautiful, the pick-up service was efficient, the food was good quality, we didn't get to enjoy the beach much, but we had a great pool. I send hugs especially to two employees of the restaurant and pool, Lilian and Paul I hope the Melia chain is good and generous to their employees, as they are caring and kind people.”

“Rzadko piszę opinie o hotelu jeszcze w trakcie pobytu, ale ten hotel wzbudził mój szczery zachwyt i w pełni zasługuje na 5 gwiazdek. Przebywając w tym hotelu gość naprawdę może się zrelaksować, zapomnieć o pracy i problemach. Jest to zasługa personelu, który jest zawsze uśmiechnięty, szczerze chętny do krótkiej, uroczej pogawędki i do pomocy, działa sprawnie. Jedzenie smaczne i bardzo urozmaicone. Restauracja główna, restauracja przy plaży, na molo i bar przy basenie. Ten ostatni nawet trudno nazwać barem, bo jest tam obsługa kelnerska, podobnie jak w dwóch ostatnich restauracjach. Jest jeszcze restauracja płatna a la carte. Na posiłkach wieczory tematyczne, wieczór z miejscową kuchnią i występami na plaży. Zawsze kącik z miejscowymi specjałami. Urozmaicenie jest więc ogromne. Plaża nie jest bezpośrednio przy budynku głównym, trzeba na nią dojechać przez ogród hotelowy, co zajmuje mniej niż 5 minut. Transport kursuje non stop, nie trzeba czekać. Plaża piękna, na część z leżakami nikt spoza hotelu nie na wstępu. Beach boys dorwą cię wtedy, kiedy zdecydujesz się na spacer brzegiem. Zarówno na plaży i nad basenem nie brakuje leżaków ani ręczników o każdej porze dnia. Karty ręcznikowe nie są potrzebne. Pokoje czyste, zadbane, ogromna część łazienkowa. Po południami profilaktycznie spryskiwane przeciw komarom. Recepcja przyjazna, brak kolejek. Wszędzie perfekcyjnie czysto. Szczere polecam!”
