“WOW!!!!!!!! I don’t even know where to begin! This lodging was perfect! Breathtakingly beautiful! My husband swears that this was the most amazing hotel experience he’s ever had! I’m so sad we were there only for one rainy night! What can I say, the service, the detail to decor in the rooms, the lemongrass smells throughout the rooms and resort, the food (!!!!), turndown service, all inclusive drinks, mini bar with red and white wine and gin, everything was simply amazing! Big shout out to Steve (Stevie Wonder) who treated us so well, as well as the manager who made sure to welcome us at our dinner. They took care to package our lunch for our safari game drive the next day which we ate in the company of majestic elephants at the Ngorongoro crater. We will most definitely be returning here! At the Front Office, David (Front Office Manager) and Yusuph ensured a warm, professional, and reliable experience from arrival to departure. In the restaurant, Nathan and Joshua combined restaurant leadership with an exceptionally strong service mentality, set a high standard. Joshua, in particular, embodies hospitality that is attentive and authentic and at the same time supervising and coaching other service staff in training. Guest Experience was well coordinated by Martin (GEX Manager) and Mosses, and our bush walk to the bush sundowner (thank you, David!) with the local Maasai and ranger Abdi was calm, knowledgeable, and respectful of the environment. During the safaris, our guide Ismail proved highly experienced and confident, what’s especially important given that road conditions can vary significantly depending on the weather. Even so, the guides experience and knowledge regarding respectful encounter of the animals deserves applause. One that is neither simple nor morally unambiguous, but it’s also one that everyone involved, from travelers to operators, needs to take responsibility for, and that lodges like this are well positioned to actively shape. The lodge pays attention to atmosphere and detail: real oil lamps lit in the evenings, fireplaces that are actually used, and a general sense that ambiance is created deliberately rather than staged. The gym is exceptional: half outdoor, very well equipped, and easily one of the best lodge gyms we’ve experienced in Tanzania. Overall, the Meliá Serengeti Lodge delivers a refined but grounded experience. Strong leadership, visible management presence, meaningful details, and an outstanding location make this a place we would confidently recommend, especially for guests who value people, atmosphere, responsibility, and perspective as much as luxury itself. “We stayed here for three nights and truly enjoyed our time. The rooms are spacious and well designed, with only minor signs of use that didn’t affect our comfort. The views from the balcony are absolutely stunning, although we barely had time to enjoy it due to our safari schedule. There is a swimming pool, which looks lovely, but for me the water was quite cold, so I didn’t use it much. Breakfast is excellent in terms of quality, but it is slow — something to keep in mind when planning early safari departures. For our group of six, breakfast took around 40 minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait, especially with such beautiful views. Dinner is served in the main restaurant, with a changing menu each evening. The four-course dinner was more than enough, and we were never left hungry. This is one of those places we would happily return to.”
