“For our stay 18-20 August 2026: Better than excellent and outstanding service with the warmth of home. An incredible location. I was sure that the Grand Melia Ngorongoro Lodge would be good. I outline below why this was a special stay for us. We arrived mid afternoon and that was too late for lunch. However without any prompting they said no trouble, we will prepare lunch. The meals here are in a family sharing format which is just the way we like it, dishes brought to our table that we can pick from. The standard of food is generally several notches higher than other parts of Tanzania. As you walk in there is a tremendous welcome and an expansive foyer that leads to a hugely impressive lounge area with very comfy seating. We used this for pre dinner drinks and post dinner chat and drinks. There is a covered terrace that provides incredible scenic views of the Ngorongoro Crater. The location and facilities are outstanding. I had a chat with the staff enquiring about their affliliation to Small Luxury Hotels and realise that I had got confused with Leading Hotels of the World. Nonetheless I could tell that the standard was excellent. The rooms were very well specified with an inclusive minibar and even a clothes steamer. All fixtures, fittings and amenities were of very high quality. Stand out points for us Jhon the manager came up to us we and introduced himself to me and my family. This was more than a professional welcome and the beginning of a special stay. Jhon provided a warm introduction and made clear that he was available, would attend to any requirements and ensure that our stay was special. The food and drink overall was outstanding with an excellent selection of drinks included. Afternoon tea provided great comfort food without over filling us for dinner. Jhon arranged a special Lion King themed evening that was truly memorable. I suspect that he some how worked out that this is one of our favourite films. Every evening there was sensational entertainment by Berta, an incredibly talented singer whose skill was thoroughly appreciated by all my family. Her vocal capabilities were outstanding and clearly formed from her opera singing training. She also took the time to speak with us and specifically talk to my girls about her education and achievements, and also her amazing career. The hotel had an amazing artist who produced some very impressive pieces during our stay. The team at the hotel were special in many ways and I will try and capture why: Rajab the reception supervisor, Borica, Angel and Angela all in reception and guest experience were all super helpful and very professional. They didn’t escape a hug from me when we left! I may have some of these names wrong: Kilusu, Joram and Boniface all left a lasting impression on me. Kilusu provided the reassuring security of the Masai. Joram is an excellent barman, and Boniface attended to our every need. This realy stumped me: When we did leave it felt like leaving family, this is the only way I can describe it. Yes it was 2 nights and 3 days, but I can’t describe it any other way (and I previously stayed with family in Arusha and had a similar welcome and send off). The welcome and send off was incredible and brought me to tears. If I had a choice I wouldn’t have left! Overall, impeccable service, an incredible location and overall an outstanding stay. We hope to return at some point.”

Recomiendo probar los exquisitos platos locales del restaurante y Grill . Mención especial al equipo de recepción , los camareros y a Jhon Mosquera , el manager de ese equipo tan bonito !!! , una pena no saber el nombre de todos pero han hecho de nuestra breve estancia una estancia inolvidable que ojalá volvamos a repetir. .. y por su puesto a nuestro guía y conductor Izack que nos acompañará durante todo el viaje !!!”
