“Solid 5* hotel. Everything works, feels new and everyone is super nice. Rooms are quiet, have enough storage, modern, but will not scare people with traditional tastes. Hotel garden is lovely, and a great place to end or start the day. The hotel is bang in the center, and very close to the big tourist sites. Its also close to 2 metro stations. One thing of particular note: the room servicing was ninja. I have no idea how they were doing it, but leaving one's rooms for even a short time, morning or night, seemed to trigger someone to tidy up. Amazing. The only bad thing is that they use UHT milk in the coffee (a personal sore point for me, and this is very common in Spain).”

“Not a good use of the $100 AMEX FHR. I was so looking forward to this property during my stay at Madrid. And, the property itself is very nice, typical luxury from Gran Melia. Yet, as an FHR they did not live up to the hype. First, the information they have in the AMEX page is misleading. Despite the fact they advertise the FHR credit as a property credit (e.g. spa, etc), when I arrived I found out it is only a food and bevarage credit. This is a big different, and something I am sure I'm not the first one to point out. AMEX FHR patrons are very picky, so they choose based on those seemingly small differences between a "property credit" and a food and beverage credit. I don't have a preference for one versus the other one. Yet, I do choose hotels based on it. The second issue is the view. The room they upgraded me was supposely the biggest in my same category, yet the view from the only window is attrocious. Basically the view of the roof and other windows. I am going to have to close the drapes all during my stay. What is the point of a bigger room if one can't use the only window in it. I would say both of these issues are the type of issues one encounters in a big chain hotel. Everything is automated, so no real contex. I am sure both the upgrade and the property vs food credit are "chossen" by either an algorithm or some manager that spends 2 seconds on the question. That would not be the case with a small property that takes it time to make sure every guests get the absolutel best experience. Now, I won't be unreasoble to rate this a 3/5. This is a fantastic property. But, they definately did not go the extra mile for a 5/5 stars with me.”

“Great location, it is wasy to walk anywhere and the place where it is located feels safe. The service is top of the line. The staff is helpful, supportive and attentive. From the moment you are greeted in the front of the hotel, to the moment you go leave. The food is delicious and the restaurant was accomodating when asking for food for kids. The rooms are comfortable, clean, well stocked from the bathroom to the water available per person to the mini bar (I didn't try anything from the mini bar). The view on the rooftop is gorgeous, and I recommend also going for the sunset.”
