Few cities experience Christmas with the intensity of Vigo. Its famous lights, large decorations and Christmas markets transform the city centre into a magical setting where there is always something to discover.
Among the Christmas markets in Vigo, the Cíes Market in the Praza de Compostela is the main meeting point, accompanied by the stalls in Vialia and the Bouzas market. Each one occupies a different space in the city and offers a different way to approach shopping, crafts and the Christmas atmosphere.
And while the markets fill the squares with stalls, Vigo adds a very particular staging to its Christmas, with illuminated streets, large figures, attractions and routes that turn a walk into one more part of the festivities. It is a way of experiencing December that shares the spirit of the Christmas markets in Europe, but with a character all of its own.

The Christmas markets in Vigo begin to take centre stage with the arrival of the city's Christmas programme. Currently, Turismo de Vigo highlights three main proposals: Cíes Market, Vialia and Bouzas, each with its own location and calendar.
For the moment, the opening dates for the 2026-2027 season have not yet been officially announced. As a reference, in previous editions these markets have remained open for a large part of December and the first weeks of January, coinciding with the period of greatest Christmas activity.
In Vigo, the Christmas atmosphere is not limited to the days leading up to Christmas Eve. The markets usually extend their activity during the holidays and the first days of January, coinciding with the Three Kings' Day shopping and the arrival of visitors attracted by the city's Christmas programme.
For the moment, the closing dates for the markets for the 2026-2027 season have not yet been officially confirmed. However, in previous editions, commercial and tourist activity has continued beyond December, with special opening hours on key dates such as 24 and 31 December or 5 January.
Although December concentrates a large part of the Christmas events and proposals, the first days of January are also a good opportunity to enjoy the lighting, the festive atmosphere and some of the most iconic spaces of Christmas in Vigo. In this way, Vigo extends its celebrations until after Three Kings' Day, just like other Spanish cities that adapt the duration of their markets to the holiday calendar.

The markets in Vigo occupy three different areas and each offers a different experience. The Cíes Market brings together the greatest variety of stalls in the heart of the city; Vialia combines shopping and gastronomy next to the station; and Bouzas proposes a smaller market in a neighbourhood with its own personality.

During Christmas, the Praza de Compostela becomes one of the busiest spots in Vigo. The Cíes Market is set up there, the largest of the Christmas markets listed by Turismo de Vigo, with more than 75 stalls dedicated to gastronomy, decoration, clothing, sweets and gifts.
Its location allows you to easily incorporate it into a walk through the centre. From the Alameda you can continue towards the shopping streets, head to the port or follow the route of the large Christmas decorations that transform Vigo during these dates.
It is also a market to stop for a while and browse. Among the stalls there are very different proposals, from gastronomic products to crafts and small gifts that may end up travelling back home.

The lights of Vialia accompany a market of up to 75 stalls dedicated to gastronomy, crafts and gifts. Its location, next to the Vigo-Urzáiz station and the shopping centre, makes it an especially easy stop to incorporate into your arrival or departure from the city.
Here, the Christmas atmosphere mixes with the usual hustle and bustle of one of the main shopping areas in Vigo. After touring the stalls, you can continue along Vía Norte and Urzáiz towards the centre, linking shopping with the route of lights.
It is an interesting alternative for those who arrive in Vigo by train or want to concentrate the market, shopping and Christmas decoration in the same area.

In Bouzas, Christmas has a different rhythm. The market on the Alameda Suárez Llanos brings together 15 stalls of Christmas decorations, gastronomy and crafts, in a smaller format that allows you to get to know this area of Vigo from another perspective.
The visit can be part of a tour of the neighbourhood and its maritime surroundings, getting away for a few hours from the hustle and bustle of the centre. It is an especially interesting option for those who have time to extend their getaway and discover other corners of the city.
Rather than competing with the markets in the centre, Bouzas provides a different stop and allows you to incorporate a walk through one of the neighbourhoods with the greatest identity in the city into your Vigo Christmas.

The Christmas markets are only part of everything Vigo offers during these dates. As is the case in other destinations with some of the most outstanding Christmas markets in Spain, the experience goes much further than the stalls and shopping. The city invites you to discover Christmas by walking among its spectacular lights, touring its large decorations and letting yourself be carried away by a festive atmosphere that transforms every corner into an experience to enjoy without rushing.
The Cíes Market and a good part of the main Christmas decorations are located in the centre, while Vialia is next to the Vigo-Urzáiz station and Bouzas requires extending the route a little more.

The distances are approximate, but Christmas in Vigo invites you precisely to move between different points of the city. A market can be the start of the walk, the lights the common thread and the Old Town (Casco Vello) the perfect place to end the afternoon.
