Tarragona welcomes Christmas with lights, seaside strolls and the streets of the Part Alta, with the Rambla Nova being one of the places where you can really feel that the festive season is here. During December, the stalls of the Fira de Nadal and the Fira d’Artesania occupy this promenade, creating a small shopping route that can easily be linked to the city centre.
The proposal has a very Mediterranean character. Here, the markets do not seek to recreate a Central European city, but rather to accompany the rhythm of Tarragona: a stroll along the Rambla, a visit to the Mercat Central, the historic streets and, if the weather is good, a walk to the Balcó del Mediterrani. It is a way of experiencing Christmas that shares the charm of other Christmas markets in Europe, but fits perfectly with the city's landscape.
For Christmas 2026-2027, Tarragona has already planned its festive calendar between 27 November 2026 and 6 January 2027. The programme will once again include the traditional Christmas and craft fairs, although we will still have to wait to find out the specific dates for each one.

The two main fairs usually join the Christmas celebrations during the first week of December. In the previous campaign, the Fira de Nadal opened on 4 December and remained until the 24th, while the Fira d’Artesania began on 5 December and continued until 6 January. Both occupied different sections of the Rambla Nova consecutively.
That edition brought together 44 exhibitors between both proposals: eight corresponded to the Fira de Nadal and 36 to the Fira d’Artesania. The City Council organised both fairs as a single Christmas commercial axis, from the section by the Col·legi de les Teresianes to the Teatre Metropol area.
For 2026-2027 we already know that Christmas in Tarragona will officially begin on 27 November, but there is still no individual calendar confirmed for each fair. Therefore, the dates from the previous year can serve as a reference.
There is an important difference between the two markets here. The Fira de Nadal is mainly designed for shopping in the weeks leading up to Christmas Eve, while the Fira d’Artesania also accompanies the holidays and continues until Three Kings Day.
For next Christmas, the specific calendar for each one is still to be determined. What is confirmed is that the Christmas programme in Tarragona will continue until 6 January 2027, so those travelling during the holidays will find activities and a festive atmosphere beyond Christmas Eve.
Tarragona's calendar also has that same air as other Spanish cities: the markets are mixed with local traditions, family activities and plans that extend until Three Kings Day, something you can check for yourself by discovering other Christmas markets in Spain.

Christmas in Tarragona has two main markets and it is worth knowing what each one offers before you go. They are very close to each other, but the experience changes quite a bit: one is designed around products typical of this time of year and the other revolves around the work of artisans.

The Fira de Nadal occupies one of the most recognisable spaces in the centre of Tarragona: the Rambla Nova. Its stalls are dedicated to products related to the holidays and allow you to make those purchases that are part of a traditional Christmas: decorations, small gifts and items designed to prepare your home or surprise someone.
Among its stalls you can find typical Christmas products and small gifts that can have that special touch of shopping done during a stroll. It is a simple and welcoming fair, designed to get closer to the traditions of this time of year and find a little something for your home or to put under the tree.
Furthermore, its location invites you to continue walking through Tarragona. After visiting the stalls, the Rambla Nova leads towards the Mercat Central, the Part Alta or the Balcó del Mediterrani, so the visit can be part of a wider walk through the city. For a family getaway, it is an easy way to combine Christmas shopping with some of Tarragona's most recognisable places.

The Fira d’Artesania shares the Rambla Nova with the Christmas fair, but its proposal revolves around handmade work. The stalls bring together pieces from different trades and objects designed as gifts, from small details to creations that may end up having a special place in your home.
It is a fair for browsing without knowing exactly what you are looking for. A piece of pottery, an accessory, a decorative object or some craft work can catch your attention precisely because they are out of the ordinary. It also allows you to learn about artisans' proposals and discover the story behind some of the products.
Its location makes it very easy to incorporate into a walk through the centre. After visiting the stalls, you can continue along the Rambla Nova towards the Mercat Central or head to the Balcó del Mediterrani, combining your visit to the fair with some of Tarragona's most characteristic corners.

Tarragona has an advantage that is hard to copy: after spending some time among the stalls, you can swap the city lights for the open landscape of the Mediterranean in a matter of minutes.
