There is something special about strolling through Valencia when Christmas arrives. The squares fill up with stalls, the shop windows dress up for the occasion and the city centre recovers that bustle so typical of this time of year. Among decorations, crafts, toys and gifts, there is always a stall that invites you to stop for a while.
Christmas markets in Valencia are spread between the historic centre, the maritime districts and unique spaces such as the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències. Some maintain the flavour of traditional customs, while others opt for more modern proposals in a city that adds its own personality to the tradition of Christmas markets in Europe.
In this guide, you will find the markets worth keeping on your radar, where they are held and what you can find in each one.

The first stalls usually appear between the end of November and the first few days of December, coinciding with the switching on of the lights and the start of the city's Christmas programme. A trend that is repeated in many of the Christmas markets in Spain, although each destination has its own dates and traditions.
Throughout December, new fairs and markets are added in different parts of Valencia, from the historic centre to the maritime areas and the city's large cultural spaces. Some proposals start earlier and others are reserved for the weeks leading up to Three Kings' Day.
For the 2026-2027 season, several dates are still to be confirmed, so the final calendar will be completed as the different markets announce their programmes.
In Valencia, the Christmas season does not end with Christmas Eve. Some markets keep their stalls open during the holidays and several continue until the first few days of January, when the Three Kings' Day shopping takes over from Christmas gifts.
The duration varies significantly from one market to another: there are fairs that are concentrated in December and others that remain open for several weeks. There are also specific proposals for the last few days before Three Kings' Day, designed for those who still have some gifts to buy.

Each market has its own personality. There are spaces designed for finding an artisan gift, others where nativity scenes and Christmas decorations are very present, and proposals that combine shopping with gastronomy and activities for the whole family.

During the holidays, the Plaza de la Reina becomes a small showcase of Valencian craftsmanship. The Christmas Craft Fair brings together stalls where you can look for different gifts and pieces made by artisans, in a setting that also allows you to enjoy some of the most emblematic places in the centre.
Its location is another of its attractions. You only need to walk a few metres away from the stalls to find the Cathedral, the Micalet, the Plaza de la Virgen or the Central Market. A Christmas stroll that invites you to look at shop windows, do some shopping and keep walking without too much of a rush.

Very close to the Central Market, one of the markets most linked to traditional Christmas and Three Kings' Day shopping is set up. Its stalls are aimed at products such as toys, nativity scenes and their accessories, decorations, gift items, crafts and sweets typical of this time of year.
It is a particularly interesting proposal for those who enjoy the most classic Christmas, with decorations and small gifts among its protagonists. In addition, the visit can be accompanied by a walk through the Central Market itself, the Lonja de la Seda and the streets of the El Carmen neighbourhood.

There are markets that look like they have been taken from a Christmas postcard and others that surprise precisely because of their setting. Here, the stalls, the decorations and the festive atmosphere meet the futuristic shapes of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, creating a very different picture to that of the historic centre markets.
It is an especially comfortable plan to enjoy with the family and spend a few hours in this area of the city. A visit to the market can be combined with the Museu de les Ciències, the Hemisfèric or the Umbracle, making this part of Valencia a very complete stop during the holidays.

The Mercado de Colón is one of those corners of Valencia that is worth visiting at any time of the year, but during Christmas it acquires an even more special atmosphere. Its modernist architecture serves as a backdrop for different commercial proposals and activities that are added to the programme for these dates.
It is a more urban and quiet space than the large open-air Christmas markets, perfect for browsing through stalls and looking for a different kind of gift. In addition, its location in the heart of the Ensanche district allows you to continue your walk through the centre and the Colón axis, or take a break in one of the establishments within the market itself.
The Christmas programme can vary each season, so we will have to wait for the 2026 calendar to find out the specific proposals.

When the Christmas carols start to fade and there is still a gift left to buy, the Cabanyal takes over. The Kings' Market is designed precisely for last-minute shopping and brings together toys, sweets, gift items and other products typical of this time of year.
Its celebration is much shorter than that of the markets that remain open for several weeks. In addition to solving any pending gift, the visit allows you to get close to the Cabanyal and discover one of the areas with the most personality in Valencia.

Each market has its own personality and also its own protagonists. The most traditional Christmas appears in the form of nativity scenes, decorations and toys, while the craft fairs allow you to find handmade gifts and less common pieces.

Beyond shopping, it is also worth paying attention to the small details: the lights, the decoration of the squares, the shop windows and that atmosphere that makes even a daily walk through Valencia seem a little more special in December.
