Hotel Alicante Gran Sol Affiliated by Meliá

I spent three nights at the Alicante Gran Sol. My first night was in a room on the third floor, which was very small and had no view—it didn’t feel like a four-star hotel experience. We decided to upgrade to a room on the 13th floor, which made a huge difference. The room was much larger, more comfortable, and had fantastic views. The breakfast was quite basic and average. For a four-star hotel, I would have expected fresh bread for example and more options. Dinner was also underwhelming, with limited options—just one meat dish, one fish dish, and one vegetarian option. The frozen vegetables were disappointing, and overall the dining experience felt more like a canteen than a quality four-star offering. I wouldn’t recommend booking with dinner included. However, I do suggest choosing a room with a sea view, as it significantly improves the overall stay.

Great hotel with friendly staff. Clean rooms and a good breakfast. The hotel is centrally located and we had great views of the marina from the 15th floor. Roof top bar had views across the city and the drinks were very reasonably priced. Would stay here again when we visit next.
