“We just spent 2 days at the Gran Melia Iguazu Falls in a red level room. It was so comfortable! The staff are amazing and the location makes quick visits to the park very easy. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. There are 2 trails to hike the falls - one at the top (~90 minutes) and one down in the middle (~45 minutes). There are a couple of other trails to hike the park/jungle. We only hiked the falls. You can only be in the park while it is open, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., but that is a real advantage since the hotel is well past the park entrance. You simply walk out of the back of the hotel, past the pool, and you are in the park. We hiked the lower trail our last morning beginning at 8:05 and only saw 2 other people on the whole trail. We were able to get pictures from any angle we wanted with no one else in them! Morning also happened to be a great time for seeing rainbows. We got half board with our reservation. The breakfasts are AMAZING. There were pastries, breads, fruit, cereal and eggs to order. Fresh juice and any kind of coffee were included. Plus, our waiter was excellent. Dinner was also very good. You have to choose between the barbecue restaurant and the indoor restaurant. We enjoyed both. The service was also very good both nights. Was the red level room class worth it? The red level lounge was worth the money to us. It gave us a comfortable place to wait, with snacks and drinks, before check-in and after checkout. The service in the lounge was impeccable. Estonella went above and beyond, particularly when our flight got delayed and arrangements had to be changed. Zhoe took excellent care of us, and Esteban was also very helpful. This is high season, so the waterfall view had limited benefit because the mist from the powerful falls blocked the view. However, the included hydrotherapy in the spa was a lovely way to spend time after checkout and before our flight. Bring a swimsuit. I cannot compare this experience to staying in town because we never made it there. But the easy access to the park, wonderful service, and the luxurious room - including really nice linens and wonderful service - made our stay here a highlight of our trip.”
