Be amazed by all the magic of the costa daurada
In 217 BC, this was one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire outside of Italy. Today this port city in the north-east of Spain is one of the cities with the most history in Europe. And it’s only a short distance (15 km) from the Port Aventura theme park!
Roman remains and plenty of adventure
Among the numerous and magnificently well-preserved ruins are the Roman amphitheatre, the circus and the aqueduct, which together form a complex declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, now one of the top tourist attractions in Tarragona. The Ferreres Aqueduct is a section of the old aqueduct that still survives on the outskirts of the city, and an ideal place for hiking. Walking along the old city wall is also a lovely experience. The Calle Mayor is home to the Romanesque and Gothic-style Santa Tecla Cathedral. Pla de la Seu Square is also surrounded by historic buildings such as the Palau de la Cambrería. The Serrallo fishing district is a great place to relax with a drink as you watch the fishing boats come back in to port.
