In a poem by Finnish writer Zacharias Topelius, entitled "The Milky Way", there is a story about the beautiful Salami and the brave Zulamith, lovers who were separated and turned into two distant stars. Unable to bear the separation any longer, they decided to build a shining bridge that would allow them to meet again and so, over a thousand years, they created the Milky Way. Legend has it that when the two stars were finally reunited in the sky, they kissed and a single star was born, which is none other than the brightest star, Sirius, in the Can Major constellation, the fourth brightest object after the Moon, Venus and Jupiter.
