The Level at Meliá Villaitana, 3 estrellas muy justitas en Semana Santa. (Translated by Google) The Level at Meliá Villaitana: a barely passable 3-star hotel during Easter week. I have to guess that Easter week isn't the best time to go to this hotel. It's a huge resort city, with a 4-star hotel and a 5-star hotel, which could have been very good, but everything runs poorly, bordering on badly. We stayed at The Level, the 5-star hotel, if you can call it that. It's the worst Meliá hotel we've ever stayed in, and we've been to quite a few. For example: The rooms were adequate, nothing more, with signs of heavy use, especially in the bathroom. The website advertises a turndown service, but that didn't happen even once during our 5-night stay. They also advertise The Level amenities for children, which were completely absent. They're minor details, yes, but in a 5-star hotel, the details matter. Personal note: Although almost everyone was very friendly (except the reception manager, who was rude), they seemed to be trainees. Most had to ask someone else for everything, and it took them ten minutes to answer even the simplest questions. Breakfast? Exactly the same in the 4-star and 5-star hotels (we tried both because we had friends staying at the other one), with mediocre products, which might be fine for foreigners. The pools? Very cute, all freezing cold except for a medium-sized pool at The Level and a small section of another in the 4-star section, which were heated. Be aware that they recommend booking the Balinese beds, which overlook a freezing pool where, obviously, there are no amenities, towels, or other people. And when you try to cancel, they tell you they're doing you a favor. The spa? You have to pay extra even if you're staying at the 5-star hotel, and children can only go in for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, and only with a prior reservation. Something they don't tell you beforehand, not even at reception when you check in. You only find out after crossing the parking lot in your bathrobe with the kids. They advertise tennis and paddle tennis courts. Want to reserve a court? It's managed by an external company that never answers the phone, and the hotel just shrugs. The checkout was awful. I know they overcharged us for someone who wasn't there every night, but the bill they give you is so opaque that it's impossible to see, and they can't get the details out of you either. I chose to pay just to be able to leave. Lesson learned. We won't be back (especially with Asia Gardens right next door). Maybe it's better in the summer. At this time of year, it felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 5-star (except for the price).
