“Ha sido decepcionante siendo un hotel Melia, marca que hemos usado muchas veces en España, por lo que esperábamos una calidad similar en Londres. No ha sido así. Reserve dos apartamentos cinco dias en Semana Santa. Las fotos en la web reflejan una realidad mejorada: la habitación es mas pequeña de lo que parece; baño y sobre todo cocina no pueden calificarse como tales. La cama tenía ruedas(??) con lo que no dejaba de moverse. No había ni un enchufe ni una luz cerca de la cama...a oscuras para ir al baño. Hay hoteles de 2 estrellas con una disposición mejor pensada. El desayuno estaba bien hasta que hubo un problema eléctrico en la cocina y se cerró el comedor. El servicio hizo lo que pudo y se agradece su amabilidad y dedicación; no es un problema del personal sino de la gestión del hotel: pobre mantenimiento y modesta reforma para una marca, Melia, cuyos precios no son precisamente modestos. Creo que en este hotel de Londres se explota la marca sin alcanzar la calidad de la misma. Lo único que tiene es una buena localización. Lamentablemente puedo asegurar que no volveré a un Melia.”

“Great stay overall! The location is the best—super convenient for getting around. The rooms are okay, nothing too fancy, but comfortable enough for a short stay. What really stood out was the excellent service. A special shout-out to Kavya, who went above and beyond to help us sort out our room issues quickly and made sure everything was taken care of. Really appreciated Kavya’s support!”

“Las habitaciones son amplias ...es un 5 estrellas en Inglaterra que no tiene nada que ver con 4 estrellas de la misma cadena en España . No nos pusieron pasta de dientes en el cuarto de baño ...aunque de lo demás sí había ...gel y crema de la marca Rituals...la moqueta necesitaba una limpieza y es estractor del cuarto de baño también ...pero en general la habitación es amplia y cómoda”

“La puntuación no pudo ser un 5 pues la experiencia de llegada no fue precisamente buena, y explico por qué: Al realizar el checkin de la reserva que estaba confirmada por el propio establecimiento mediante mail, tal y como les mostré, me dijeron que debia justificar que habia realizado el pago (??) pues habia sido realizado por paypal. Les mostre el pago completado a Melia desde la app de Paypal, pero me indicaron que, “por protocolo”, lo que debia mostrar era el mail de correo de confirmación de paypal, cosa que yo ya no conservaba. Asi pues me indican que, aunque me reembolsaran el importe pagado por Paypal, no me podian dar la llave del apartamento si no pagaba “de nuevo y en ese momento “ el importe (que ya habia pagado), cosa que como ya era tarde procedi a realizar a pesar de mis quejas. Ademas cuando subimos al apartamento, este era minimo, no tenia armario para colgar la ropa, solo habia una silla, eramos dos personas, sin tostadora y con una cazuela grande por todo menaje. Este increible “maltrato” por parte del hotel hubiera sido objeto de denuncia si no fuera porque al dia siguiente estaba la srta Elena Martinez, (Assistant Guest Manager) la cual, despues de escucharnos, se encargó personalmente de arreglar este desaguisado y de atendernos con toda la profesionalidad esperada de un establecimiento de esta categoría, y sobre la cual no tengo palabras para agradecer la ayuda recibida y por la que este comentario podria ser un 11 sobre 10, pero un cero para Melia… mil gracias Elena Señores de Melia, no pierdan a esta personita.”

“The "Meliá Apartments" (or at least the one we stayed in) are a mixed bag. They are located within the main Meliá White House Hotel, but offer self catering facilities (though we still opted for the breakfast option). There is the potential for them to be really excellent, but unfortunately at present it's an opportunity missed. Positives: The public areas of the hotel are attractive. The location right next to Regents Park is outstanding. The staff were great. Breakfast was pretty good (with one caveat - only 2 out of 4 coffee machines were working so queues ++) with extensive buffet options. The studio apartment we stayed in was more spacious than a standard room, and had a basic kitchenette, and a sofa - so offered self-catering potential within a city centre hotel environment. The bathroom was fairly good with attractive tiling and fittings. The bed was very big and comfortable. Negatives: The apartment decor was bleak and soulless - very very different from the pictures on the website. Most of the walls were bare, with some obvious areas of patched up paintwork. The carpet was stained. The sofa (and the head-board for the bed) were covered in an unpleasant "gold lame" plastic material. A table (presumably provided to eat on) was plastic with a covering sheet - which meant it looked like an altar. Only one seat was supplied. There were no bedside lights (X1 was supplied on request - but 2-pin so then had to request an adapter). There was no kettle in the kitchen (an ancient model - with a loose lid - was supplied on request). Interestingly we heard one of our neighbours phoning reception with similar complaints so clearly we weren't alone. Essentially it felt like we were in a jaded student bedsit from the 1980's! All of which is a real shame, particularly in an otherwise fairly plush hotel. It seems such a bizarre contrast that we felt as though the apartments might be under a different management team to the "main" rooms. Certainly no love or imagination has been lavished on their decor! So in conclusion my suggestion would be that if you do decide to book one of these apartments you insist that you want a refurbished room which matches the pictures on the website.”

“The Lobby till the lift, breakfast : 4 stars We booked the studio apartment for 1 adults and 2 kids. Very basic, and frankly shabby room. Very dated, kitchenette was old and plain, worse than my first shared flat in London in 2002, and decorated with the most essential stuff from IKEA or similar. I wish they could give a clean up kit for the kitchen as they dont clean often so the cups would remain dirty and unusable. Not many people travel with washing up liquid or want to buy one for a short trip. The bathroom was dull and dated too, only concession was the rituals products. The bed was comfy . I understand that the building is historic but you cannot pass a 2 star hotel as a 4 star and charge those prices. The location is flawless and is just a stone's throw from great portland St Station , Warren street Stn and walkable to most important places. My kids were not impressed as we were expecting the Melia wow factor !”

“Poca limpieza , moqueta con muchas manchas , suelo del baño con losas partidas y sobresaliendo , grifos llenos de cal , armario del baño con bisagras rotas , oxidadas ,madera rajada por la humedad , el somier del sofá cama muy hundido Televisión en ingles , cuando anunciaba idioma español , como punto bueno tiene varios enchufes europeos , la ubicación es céntrica teniendo a mano el metro , bus y tranvía muy cerca , la atención del personal es excelente, muy amables y cordiales”

“There’s a very big distinction between the hotel and the apartments, evident already from the abrupt change in the hallway from the sleek modern look to the frumpy dated carpeting. But I was aware that I was getting an older room when I was booking the apartment. What I wasn’t aware of until it was too late was that the apartments are only cleaned 2 times a week. This was not clearly stated during the online booking process (as admitted by the Duty Manager) and was never mentioned to me during my check in. I only found out about it this after coming home after a long day with the room unmade. If 2x a week cleaning is the policy then fine, but it’s deeply unfair to not state this during the booking process, particularly if (like me) one pays the non-refundable rate. I appreciate the managerial staff trying their best to find solutions for me, but the rest of the staff (all very young and green) clearly couldn’t care less. The state of the apartment - not great. Yes I expected old, I did not expect bleach stains on the carpet, burn marks on the counters, a kitchen that made me want to close the door and forget it was there. Location is good if one walks towards Great Portland Street where the essentials and some nice places to eat are located, but it gets more questionable if walking the opposite direction. I wouldn’t walk that way as a woman alone at night.”

“No es muy céntrico, pero lo bueno que tiene es que el metro está muy cerca y el regent park que está al lado es una belleza de parque. La habitaciones de los apartamentos están descuidados, manchas en la moqueta, azulejos rotos, cocina deteriorada. La reserva era para tres y la cama supletoria no estaba preparada y tuvimos que bajar para pedir que la hicieran, luego pusieron toallas, y de los cuatro días que dormimos solo hicieron la habitación un dia, nunca en un Meliá había visto tanta dejadez. No lo recomiendo nada Además te cobran al llegar y te retienen 200 libras como fianza y al irte no nos las han devuelto, después de tres días sigo esperando”

“Albergo bello e personale gentile. All’apparenza tutto ok, se non fosse però che ci sono aree veramente sporche e impresentabili, le zone nascondeste alla vista immediata sono impresentabili per lo sporco e il lurido. Ad ogni piano c’è una zona ascensori de personale che è agghiacciante dallo sporco e dalla puzza. Mi domando se li è così come potranno mai essere le cucine….”

“Stayed here for over a month. The apartment was ok but outdated and needed a remodel. The elevators always took so long and were usually packed. The apartment had heavy doors to the kitchen and bedroom making it difficult to easily move around. The television and phone came broken when I came to the apartment and the front desk said they would send someone to fix it but never did. When I was checking in there was an error on their end and I ended up waiting 2+ hours in the lobby because they said that my reservation was cancelled. Unorganized staff, outdated apartments, keys would always break. Also the “kitchen” barely came with any supplies (sponge, dish soap, etc.) which made it hard to use the kitchen. If I had to do it again I would just stay in an Airbnb.”
