The Mosque-Cathedral is famous worldwide and one of the most beautiful examples of Muslim art and architecture in Spain. The monuments in the historical centre are also magnificent.
Spectacular art and architecture
This city in southern Spain was one of the most important cities in the Islamic world during the Middle Ages. Its spectacular Mosque-Cathedral is a combination of different styles. The old town has a maze of narrow streets, pretty flower-filled courtyards and lively squares and bars, all together helping make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Jewish quarter, we recommend you wander along the Calle de las Flores, a magnificent explosion of colours. The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, the Roman Bridge and the Puerta del Puente are also worth a visit. As is the archaeological site of Medina Azahara, the ancient Caliphate city. Visiting one of the many horse and flamenco shows held in the city is also highly recommended if you visit Córdoba on holiday.
