The Parque de la Batería owes its name to the old coastal defence batteries that were located in Torremolinos, intended to protect the Bay of Malaga from possible maritime incursions. Today, this space of over 74,000 square metres has been transformed into a green lung where history, sport, and relaxation combine.
Among its main attractions are a large navigable lake, a Venetian carousel, a 15-metre-high observation tower with spectacular panoramic views of La Carihuela beach and El Bajondillo beach, and a network of paths surrounded by Mediterranean gardens.
It also preserves original cannons as a tribute to its military past, integrating history and nature in the same space. This balance makes Parque de la Batería an ideal visit for both families and those seeking a peaceful stroll with sea views.
The park's central lake is one of its main attractions. Irregularly shaped and surrounded by native vegetation, here you can rent small rowing boats and enjoy a relaxing ride.
The observation tower, about 15 metres high, offers panoramic views stretching from the Bay of Malaga to the Sierra de Mijas. From the top, you can see Playa de los Álamos and Playa de la Carihuela, two of the municipality's most popular beaches.
If you visit the park with children, you'll find a perfectly restored Venetian-style carousel, along with spacious play areas and cycle paths.
Scattered throughout the grounds, you'll see several original cannons that recall the enclave's defensive past. In the past, these batteries protected the coastline during the 18th and 19th centuries.
