Founded in 1548 by Juan Téllez Girón, 4th Count of Ureña, the University of Osuna is a magnificent Renaissance building. It still has the cloisters, classrooms and library, and today it is home to a university centre.

The American series made Osuna one of its locations for filming. Game of Thrones made this Seville town Meereen in Slave Bay where Daenerys lived as the new queen. The stone Osuna bullring dates back to 1904 and was the main set chosen to represent the Great Trench of Daznak. An important scene for the penultimate episode of season 5 was filmed there, with Osuna appearing on the map of Game of Thrones location along with Dubrovnik, The Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland or the Reales Alcázares in Seville. There was such a strong bond with the series that there is a special space dedicated to it in the Osuna Museum: the Hall of Ice and Fire. Osuna has also been filmed in other movies such as Callas Forever, Los Hijos de San Luis, Goodbye and the series La Peste.
