In the S'Agaró area, Cala de Sa Conca is one of the most essential beaches on the Costa Brava, combining crystal-clear waters, golden sand, and nature in equal measure.
Located within the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro, in the province of Girona, Sa Conca beach is quite large, yet it has managed to preserve the charm of the smaller coves in the area.
With a characteristic horseshoe shape and almost unbelievably transparent waters, you will find a much calmer atmosphere here than on other nearby urban beaches, making it one of the best options for enjoying a day of relaxation in the Mediterranean.

What truly sets Cala Sa Conca apart is its unique physical layout and the high quality of its services. With a length of about 400 metres, this bay is naturally divided into two distinct sectors by a central rocky islet connected to the sand. On one side is the main beach, with a distinctly family-friendly atmosphere and coarse, golden sand, and on the other, the small Cala dels Oriços, characterised by its rocky seabed.
The cove is surrounded by the private S'Agaró Vell residential estate, a protected architectural complex designed with exquisite taste that gives the beach an aristocratic and exclusive feel without sacrificing tranquillity.
Especially in the Cala dels Oriços area and around the central rocky islet that divides both sectors, the stone and posidonia seabeds are home to spectacular marine biodiversity, perfect for enjoying some snorkelling.
Furthermore, thanks to the quality of its waters, it holds a Blue Flag award. It has several lifeguard stations, sunbed rental services, showers, public toilets, and accessible entrances, as well as a beach bar right on the sand.
Before you go, the first thing to do is take a look at the location of Cala de Sa Conca to find out about the different entry points and plan your visit.
The cove is located on the coastal boundary that separates the centre of S'Agaró from the busy town of Platja d'Aro, serving as a green and blue lung between both municipalities.

Thanks to the excellent road connectivity of the Baix Empordà, getting to Cala Sa Conca is very simple, with different alternatives that will allow you to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Costa Brava during the journey. Here they are:
On foot via the Camino de Ronda from Sant Pol: This is undoubtedly the most beautiful and essential option. You can park at Sant Pol beach and take the S'Agaró Camino de Ronda heading north. It is a beautiful walk, completely flat, paved, and accessible, taking about 20 minutes and passing through pergolas, stone tunnels, and hidden coves until you reach Sa Conca.
By car: If you are travelling from the centre of Platja d'Aro or from Sant Feliu de Guíxols, you must take the C-31 road and take the exit towards S'Agaró. Once you enter the town centre, you should bear in mind that car access to the interior of the residential estate is restricted to residents. Therefore, you will have to park in the surrounding areas and cover the last stretch on foot via the signposted access points.
On foot from Platja d'Aro: There is another stretch of the Camino de Ronda that connects the southern end of Platja d'Aro beach (from the Marina and Yacht Club area) with Sa Conca. This path is a little steeper and more natural, ideal for those looking for a hike with a more adventurous touch among the rocks.
Parking at Cala Sa Conca is something you should keep in mind if you are going by car, especially if you go in July and August, as it starts to fill up early in the morning.
The main parking area is on the residential streets in the surroundings of the estate, where you will find quite a few spaces regulated as a blue zone. But, as I always say, I recommend arriving as early as possible to ensure you get a spot.
If you arrive after 11am, you will probably have to leave the car in the Sant Pol Beach car park and walk along the Camino de Ronda to the sand.
So that you can plan your route in detail and arrive without getting lost, you can check the exact location of the beach by using the link to the Map of Cala Sa Conca.
What travellers highlight most in reviews of Sa Conca beach is that it is one of the most beautiful, clean, and well-kept coves on the entire Costa Brava, especially valuing the comfort of its coarse sand and the spectacular views offered by the perimeter promenade.
The few negative, or less favourable, reviews focus on how quickly the seabed gains depth as soon as you enter the water, which requires keeping a close eye on younger children, as well as the high occupancy during the months of July and August.

To make the most of your visit to Sa Conca beach, here are a series of tips that I think will be of great help.
- Try to arrive early during the summer months to find a better spot both on the beach and in the parking areas.
- Bring goggles so you can enjoy the seabed.
- Do not forget sunscreen because a large part of the beach is completely exposed to the sun.
- Reserve some time to walk the Camino de Ronda, which is one of the great attractions of the area.
- If you can, stay for a while in the late afternoon, when the beach empties and the atmosphere becomes much calmer.
The surroundings of Cala de Sa Conca offer many plans to complete your day after leaving the beach. This part of the Costa Brava combines beaches, coastal paths, viewpoints, and towns with a great atmosphere, making it very easy to organise a full day without having to go too far from the area. Here are some of my favourite plans:
Considered the most beautiful, elegant, and well-kept coastal walk in all of Catalonia, designed by the architect Francesc Folguera, it is a work of art in itself. Walking along it will allow you to admire terraces with classic-style columns, semicircular viewpoints facing the marine horizon, tunnels carved into the stone, and the spectacular exterior architecture of the S'Agaró Vell mansions on a walk suitable for all ages.
After a day at the beach, you might be looking for a more urban and cosmopolitan atmosphere; the centre of Platja d'Aro is just a few minutes away by car. It is a huge open-air shopping centre all year round, with a huge range of international brand shops, cinemas, bowling alleys, cafes, and much more.
Located just south of S'Agaró, this traditional fishing village offers a top-level cultural visit. You cannot miss the monumental 10th-century Benedictine Monastery, which houses the prestigious artistic space of the Carmen Thyssen Collection. Also, do not hesitate to stroll along its stately promenade full of 19th-century mansions.
