“A Stunning Tropical Retreat Held Back by Its Culinary Experience I recently stayed at the Meliá Vinpearl Phu Quoc, and it is truly a property of two halves. On one hand, the physical resort and its setting are world-class; on the other, the dining experience leaves much to be desired. The Property & Accommodation The resort itself is completely fabulous. It sits in a spectacular location on a pristine private beach that offers the kind of tranquility you expect from a high-end island getaway. We stayed in one of the villas, and they are exceptional. They are: Incredibly spacious: Perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation. Spotlessly clean: The housekeeping standards are top-tier. Private Pools: Having a secluded pool attached to the villa was a major highlight of the stay. The resort is spread out, so you rely on a buggy service to get around. While it’s a necessary convenience, it’s worth noting that the service can be slow at times, so you’ll need to factor in a bit of a wait during peak hours. The Dining Experience This is where the "fabulous" nature of the resort, unfortunately, comes to a halt. The breakfast and dinner we had at both Jarana and Food Market, and the experience was honestly below par. The food choices were unimaginative and lacked the flair or quality you would expect from a luxury Meliá property. The service, quality and the variety of options simply did not match up to the excellence of the villas or the beach. It would not be an exaggeration to say that we really disliked it! It is a genuine shame that such a beautiful physical environment is let down by a culinary program that feels like an afterthought. Final Verdict Would we return? Absolutely. We would love to come back to this property again because the villas and the beach are simply that good. However, when we do return, we would likely elect not to have any food on-site.
