Journalist and in love with trips full of new experiences. Writing and traveling merge to allow him the privilege of telling about what he discovers in every corner of the world and sharing them with anyone who wants to follow in his footsteps.
Athletes like to train wherever they are, and the chance to do it in the Caribbean is a plus in favor of a trip to this paradise. Visiting amazing places and staying in shape is not mutually exclusive. This is Playa del Carmen, a place where you can make the most of your vacations in Riviera Maya. So many activities to sign up for, both day and night. Do you have any better plan?
First we will locate in the region where we will be landing. Mexico is a country with a tropical climate, so we will be seeing warm temperatures and intense sunshine, especially from December to May. It gets quite hot and there will be high humidity, so for any sport in Playa del Carmen, it’s best to drink water, wear suitable clothing, prepare sunscreen and schedule your training. The weather means it’s best to do some sport first thing in the day or at the end of the day. From 10am in the morning the sun is beating down, and in the evening you should get going around 7pm.
I encourage you to come out and do some sport in the open air as the location gives you such an opportunity and you will see what a great tropical environment in which to train. In Playa del Carmen running, callisthenics, cycling and endless races are popular with the triathlon. These are the most popular sports in Playa del Carmen, but it is also a great place for yoga, both in event rooms with natural light, on the beach or in one of the spectacular cenotes.

It’s true that you only need good shoes for running, but if I tell you that running is one of the sports in Playa del Carmen that is most popular by the local people, it will encourage you not to think twice. Enjoy the long beaches and strengthen your legs in the sand. It costs a little more, but you will see that running on the white-sand beaches with views of the Caribbean Sea gives you all the motivation you need to continue.
You can start just south of the ferry docks for Cozumel as the beach is broader than the others and less used for travel. Head north in Playa del Carmen to Calle 10. If you enter the beach from the access road on the south of the Paradisus La Perla Hotel - Adults Only- Rivera Maya, you can then run south to Punta Esmeralda Beach. It may not be the flattest beach, but it is the best and least crowded beach for running in Playa del Carmen.

Calisthenics is a type of fitness activity you can try in Playa del Carmen. If you’ve not heard much about yoga, calisthenics is a combination of strength exercises using your own weight and bars of different shapes and sizes. One of the calisthenics parks in Playa del Carmen that I recommend you visit is the one located in Fundadores Park at the end of the main pier.
Many local people and tourists come to do their exercises on the double bars, parallel bars, flag bar and ring station. If you are looking for some effective physical activity while you enjoy your holiday, the best thing is to try calisthenics in Playa del Carmen.

Cycling in Playa del Carmen is also becoming increasingly popular. In addition to recommending you get to know the city and its surroundings using a bike as a sustainable means of transport, you can also train in Playa del Carmen at the same pace as you are used to. I recommend you rent a mountain bike so you can find routes through natural trails, not too steep and with moderate technical difficulty.
I think it’s a good idea and I recommend it. If it’s your first time, you can help yourself with the place. You can see you can see all the different routes in the different bike applications or ask for more information in the bike rental centres. You can train in Playa del Carmen and go south to Cancun, or north and visit Coral Beach. Although it’s not easy to take your own bike to the destination, you can pack a suitcase with suitable accessories and clothing for the sport so that you can make your cycling training in Playa del Carmen easier.

What surprised me, however, was that people were preparing for something more than just a race. The triathlon is another of the most popular sports in Playa del Carmen.
A combination of swimming, cycling and running is the best way to combine the three outdoor sports. See how different groups of people of different ages and sex train every day around the center of Playa del Carmen. As we have already mentioned, the conditions are very favorable for cycling and running in Playa del Carmen.
There are a lot of alternatives for swimming, but the pluses of open-water training are not available everywhere.
There are also triathlon clubs and centers in Playa del Carmen that you can visit that offer permanent training programmes. This is due to the popularity of the sport in recent years and the number of tourists coming to the competitions held in Cozumel, Cancun or Tulum. Tulum is also home to the world-famous Xel-Há triathlon.

So far I’ve told you about all the cardio and strength workouts you can do in Playa del Carmen. But I also have to mention the many types of yoga that can be found in this part of the Caribbean. There are, of course, plenty of options in health and safety centers and gyms, but I recommend you try this sport in the open air in one of the many cenote pools in paradise.
Yoga in Playa del Carmen can be a great complement to one of the sports mentioned above and also revitalize both your body and mind. You can’t resist trying this sport surrounded by water. And here I can recommend the experience at the Paradisus La Perla - Adults Only - Rivierahotel, which offers private yoga sessions in a cenote as part of its Destination Inclusive® program only for guests in superior rooms. It is a privileged service to be able to try an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.

If you prefer to do all your exercise without having to travel or keep up your training routine in Playa del Carmen, I have good news for you.
You can keep up with your exercise program in the hotel where you are staying. That’s why it would be best if you could keep up your fitness routine in Playa del Carmen. And you can do this if you book at any of the resorts with a gym in Playa del Carmen. Paradisus La Perla - Adults Only - Rivera Maya and Paradisus Playa del Carmen - Riviera Maya have two of the most full gyms with resistance systems, state-of-the-art equipment and sessions with a personal trainer.
Just like what you are doing at the gym in your city, here you get everything you need to keep up with your workout routine and continue disconnecting. In such circumstances you are also rewarded by the fact that the hotel also has a spa where you can recharge your batteries and calm your hand. This is the way to explore the Caribbean, without having to miss a thing.
