When the first cold November evenings arrive, the centre of Manchester begins to fill with stalls, lights and the aromas of freshly prepared food. Christmas spreads across various streets and squares, so visiting its markets is, in reality, a tour of much of the heart of the city.
The Christmas markets in Manchester will be spread across ten locations and more than 210 stalls in 2026. Albert Square, St Ann's Square, King Street, Exchange Square and Cathedral Gardens are some of the main points on this urban route. The stalls bring together gastronomy, drinks, crafts and seasonal products.
The season will begin on 6 November 2026. Most of the markets will end on 22 December, although Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens will remain open until 3 January 2027. This allows you to visit Manchester both during Advent and in the days after Christmas.

The markets are one of the cornerstones of Manchester's Christmas programme. In 2026 they will be spread across Albert Square, Lincoln Square, King Street, St Ann's Square, Exchange Street, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square, Corn Exchange, Cathedral Gardens and Market Street.
This distribution shapes how you visit them. There is not a single venue, but an itinerary through different areas of the centre where stalls selling crafts, food, drink and gifts alternate. Visit Manchester confirms a total of 210 stalls for 2026 with artisanal products, independent traders, international gastronomy and seasonal specialities.
The celebration is completed with other activities. Skate Manchester returns to Cathedral Gardens and the Manchester Christmas Parade is scheduled for 6 December 2026. These are complementary proposals to the markets and not independent markets.
Albert Square will have a special role. In 2026 it will feature food, drink and craft stalls, a 50-metre Ferris wheel, a temporary Manchester Christmas Markets establishment and the Helter-Skelter attraction.
The Manchester Christmas Markets 2026 will begin on Friday 6 November. Manchester City Council confirms this date along with the ten locations and more than 210 stalls planned in the centre.
From that day, places such as Albert Square, St Ann's Square, King Street, Exchange Square, Market Street and Cathedral Gardens will be included in the circuit. The 2026 layout also incorporates Lincoln Square, next to Brazennose Street, as a new location.
More than a dozen food and drink stalls and vehicles are planned for Lincoln Square. Its proximity to Albert Square will allow you to visit both spaces consecutively.
The daily opening hours for the 2026 edition have not yet been published. Visit Manchester expressly indicates that they remain to be confirmed, so opening hours from previous seasons should not be used as if they corresponded to 2026.
The selection includes some of the main locations confirmed by Manchester City Council for 2026. Its location, type of offer announced and usefulness within a first tour of the markets have been assessed.

Albert Square will be one of the main centres of Christmas in Manchester in 2026. Manchester City Council confirms a combination of food, drink and craft stalls accompanied by different attractions.
One of its most visible elements will be the 50-metre Ferris wheel, which was already installed in this square during the previous season. The Helter-Skelter will also return and a pop-up pub for the Manchester Christmas Markets is planned.
Albert Square also has a longer calendar than most of the markets. Its stalls will remain open after 22 December and will continue during the Christmas period until the beginning of January.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November 2026 - 3 January 2027.
📍 Location: Albert Square, Manchester.
St Ann's Square is one of the locations with the longest history within the Manchester Christmas circuit. For 2026, the City Council announces a new layout of the space and more craft, food and drink stalls.
Its location makes it easy to visit several markets consecutively. King Street, Exchange Street, New Cathedral Street and Exchange Square are part of the same Christmas network in the centre.
The reinforcement of craft stalls planned for this edition makes St Ann's Square one of the areas to keep in mind when looking for gifts during your visit.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November - 22 December 2026.
📍 Location: St Ann's Square, Manchester.
Exchange Square is one of the ten official locations of the Manchester Christmas Markets 2026. Its position allows you to easily connect this area with New Cathedral Street, Corn Exchange and Cathedral Gardens.
The complete list of traders for 2026 has not yet been published. For this reason, dishes, brands or stalls that are only documented in previous editions are not attributed to Exchange Square.
Its location is its main advantage for the traveller: it allows you to continue the Christmas tour through the centre without needing to travel long distances.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November - 22 December 2026.
📍 Location: Exchange Square, Manchester.
King Street will once again be part of the official circuit in 2026. This street in the centre is close to St Ann's Square and allows you to continue on foot towards other Christmas locations.
The specific offer of traders for 2026 has not yet been published in full. Therefore, restaurants, bars, dishes or products that were present in 2025 are not included in the article.
For the traveller, King Street functions above all as a stage of a wider itinerary that can continue through St Ann's Square, Exchange Square or Albert Square.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November - 22 December 2026.
📍 Location: King Street, Manchester.

Cathedral Gardens will combine commercial stalls with Skate Manchester, the indoor ice rink installed in this space, in 2026. Manchester City Council expressly confirms the presence of both stalls and the rink.
Its location allows you to connect the market with the Corn Exchange and Exchange Square. In addition, Cathedral Gardens is one of the two locations that will remain open after the general closure of the markets.
The ice rink is an activity independent of the market. Its presence complements the visit, but it is the commercial stalls that justify the inclusion of Cathedral Gardens among the Christmas markets in this guide.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November 2026 - 3 January 2027.
📍 Location: Cathedral Gardens, Manchester.
New Cathedral Street is one of the ten locations confirmed for the Manchester Christmas Markets 2026. It is close to other points on the route, such as St Ann's Square and Exchange Square.
The official information available does not yet detail which traders will occupy each stall on this street. To avoid using data from previous seasons, this guide does not attribute specific products to New Cathedral Street.
Its position within an important commercial area means it can easily be incorporated into the tour between the different markets in the centre.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November - 22 December 2026.
📍 Location: New Cathedral Street, Manchester.
Lincoln Square is incorporated as a new location in 2026. It is located next to Brazennose Street and a short distance from Albert Square.
Manchester City Council announces more than a dozen stalls and vehicles dedicated to food and drink. This profile allows it to be differentiated from other areas where crafts have a greater presence.
As it is a new addition, there is no previous edition in this location that allows its atmosphere to be described with precision. We will have to wait for the opening and the publication of the complete list of traders to expand on those details.
🗓️ Dates: 6 November - 22 December 2026.
📍 Location: Lincoln Square, next to Brazennose Street, Manchester.
Gastronomy is an important part of the Manchester Christmas Markets. Visit Manchester indicates that the markets usually bring together mulled wine, hot chocolate, bratwurst, churros, roast meats, international street food and seasonal sweets.
The offer is international and changes depending on the participating traders. For this reason, specific dishes or stalls that only appear documented in the 2025 edition are not presented as confirmed for 2026.
Regarding shopping, Visit Manchester points out common products such as handmade gifts, Christmas decorations, artisanal items, clothing, jewellery, toys and local products. The 2026 edition will also feature independent traders.
Some drink stalls use reusable Christmas mugs through a deposit system. Visit Manchester explains that they can usually be returned to get the deposit back or kept as a souvenir. Specific conditions may depend on each trader.
The gastronomy typical of a British Christmas Dinner belongs to a different context and should not be confused with the market offer. For that reason, dishes such as roast turkey, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire pudding, Christmas pudding or mince pies are not presented here as products available at the Manchester Christmas Markets 2026 without specific confirmation from the traders.
Most of the Manchester Christmas markets will end on Tuesday 22 December 2026. The date is officially confirmed by Manchester City Council and Visit Manchester.
There are two exceptions: Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens will remain open until Sunday 3 January 2027. This allows you to continue finding Christmas stalls in the centre during the last days of December and at the start of the new year.
Those who want to visit all ten locations should, therefore, travel before 22 December. After that date, Christmas commercial activity will be concentrated mainly in Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens.
The daily opening hours for 2026 remain to be confirmed. The 2025 opening hours are not used in this guide as if they were valid for the new season.
Manchester has INNSiDE Manchester, by Meliá Hotels International, on First Street. Due to its urban location, it allows you to use the centre as a base to visit the different locations of the Manchester Christmas Markets.
| Hotel | Nearby market | Distance/transport | Approximate time | Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| INNSiDE Manchester | Manchester Christmas Markets | On foot and public transport to the centre | Variable depending on market | Base for visiting the different locations in the centre |
Since the markets are distributed across ten locations, there is no single reference market to choose accommodation. The visit is planned as a tour through different points in the centre.
Manchester has other Christmas proposals that can be combined with the markets. The Manchester Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday 6 December 2026, although the City Council has yet to publish more details about it.
Cathedral Gardens will also host Skate Manchester, an indoor ice rink. Visit Manchester publishes its operation from 6 November 2026 until the beginning of January 2027.
Another confirmed proposal is Northern Lights Manchester, which will return to Heaton Park from 19 November to 31 December 2026 with an illumination trail. This is an independent event and is not part of the Manchester Christmas Markets.
The Christmas programme also includes shows, theatre, pantomimes and family activities in Manchester and Greater Manchester. As many events have their own dates and access conditions, it is advisable to check them independently.
And perhaps one of the best ways to enjoy Christmas in Manchester is simply to explore it on foot. Moving from one square to another, warming up with a drink, choosing a small gift and sharing something freshly prepared allows you to enjoy the city without too many plans. At the end of a cold afternoon, the lights, a warm table and returning to the hotel provide that simple and homely side that accompanies these dates.
