📌 Before the show: book a table just a couple of steps away from the theatre. The restaurants and bars around Gran Vía are used to “theatre shifts” of 60-75 minutes. If your check-in is at 8pm, have dinner at 6:45pm or choose a snack from the bar.
📌 Seat and visibility: in classic venues from row 8 to 14 in the stalls is usually close and with perspective. Avoid extremes in amphitheater if you don’t want railings that bother you during the performance.
📌 Timing and access: arrives with 20 minutes to go, many theaters no longer allow you in if the show has started and you have to wait for the break.
📌 Luggage and photos: large backpacks can be left in the luggage storeroom and the use of mobile phones can bother performers and spectators. The recording of musical performances is also prohibited.
📌 Post-function: if you’re looking for a peaceful end to the city, stroll through the Plaza de España and Temple of Debod; if you prefer a bar and chats, explore the surroundings of Malasaña.
📌 Bookings in advance: weekends and holidays are the preferred dates and the most demand. For the first rows and central row, buy 2 to 3 weeks in advance. Bear this in mind, especially for holiday periods such as Christmas.
