Camagüey

This picturesque old town is home to a labyrinth of streets whose design appears to be chaotic, but actually is not. The objective of the chaos was to prevent looting by the pirates who often used to attack the city.

Land of pirates and buccaneers

Vivid colours, streets full of rhythm and old colonial buildings create something truly unique in Camagüey. The history of the city, acknowledged as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is as exciting as it is surprising. The iconic large clay vessels that were used to collect water decorate the city, add character and take us back to the distant past. The Carmen and Armas squares, Ignacio Agramonte Park, the “Principal” Theatre, home to the city’s famous ballet, or the Casa de la Trova, cradle of traditional Cuban music, are all beautiful places to visit in Camagüey.
