EXPERIENCES AND ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE RESORT - DESTINATION INFORMATION

The history, culture and natural beauty of the Costa del Sol and Andalusia deserve to be explored.
Towns with centuries-old traditions, places declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, museums and a multitude of dining experiences.  Many of these places are within walking distance of the Meliá Costa del Sol.

COSTA DEL SOL - COSTA DEL GOLF

The Costa del Sol is the top destination in Europe for golfers. The great weather, beaches, great choice of leisure activities, easy access, a rich cultural and artistic heritage, and the most delicious cuisine are just some of the reasons.

You can enjoy the sun and golf in Malaga and the province all year round.

Miguel Ángel Jiménez Golf Academy

Just ten minutes from Melia Costa del Sol, enjoy the best golf facilities at the Miguel Ángel Jiménez Golf Academy. All with a spectacular design created by Miguel Ángel Jiménez himself in the heart of Torremolinos.

HIKING

Our seafront promenade is an excellent place for a walk for more than six kilometres alongside the sea. Torremolinos is ideal for more ambitious athletes, with longer routes such as the different stages of the coastal section of the “Gran Senda de Málaga” walking trail.

MALAGA - CULTURAL EPICENTRE AND ONE OF THE OLDEST CITIES IN EUROPE

Malaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol and has more than 3,000 years of history since first being settled by the Phoenicians. It was also the birthplace of Pablo Picasso in 1881.

Malaga is an authentic “City of Museums”. 40 museums in total, most of them in the historic centre, including the Picasso Museum, Malaga Pompidou Centre, Carmen Thyssen Museum Malaga or The Russian Museum Collection, Saint Petersburg Malaga

PROVINCE OF MÁLAGA AND SURROUNDINGS.

RONDA

The romantic legends about bandits, the place where so many bullfighters and artists are born, make Ronda a truly unique city.

Located between the National Parks of Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves, Ronda is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Spain.

ANTEQUERA - ART AND NATURAL MONUMENTS

Without a doubt, this is one of the most important cities in Andalusia and a constant feature in the history, art, politics, culture and economy of our community.

One authentic “natural monument” stands out, “El Torcal” declared a protected area by the Junta de Andalucía and a place everyone must visit.

CAMINITO DEL REY

Almost 100 metres above the gorge through which the Guadalhorce river flows, this path crosses the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes nature area, an impressive canyon created by the Guadalhorce river. Located in the heart of the province of Malaga between the municipalities of Álora, Antequera and Ardales, this is one of the most spectacular landscapes in the mountains of Malaga.

GRANADA AND THE ALHAMBRA PALACE

You must see the Alhambra Palace and Granada if you are in Andalusia.

Just an hour and a half from Torremolinos, Granada is the best place for visitors to enjoy an unforgettable cultural and culinary experience.

CORDOBA

We suggest you visit Cordoba among a sea of olive trees. Believe us when we say that the trip alone will be worth it. The city quietly awaits us, behind the most splendid Islamic monument in the western world: “La Mezquita” (The Mosque). Cordoba was the capital of Islamic Spain for more than three centuries and is believed to have been the largest city in Europe in the age of Islamic rule.
