GRANADA

Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, in the south of Spain, and has one of the country’s most important cultural heritages, including the world famous Alhambra and the neighbourhood of Albaycín, both declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN GRANADA

  • The Alhambra and Generalife. One of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, representing the zenith of Moorish art
  • The Albaycín. The old Moorish quarter is a picturesque jumble of white streets located on a hill with Baroque churches and Arab baths
  • The Sacromonte and the abbey. For centuries the Sacromonte has been the “Gypsy” quarter of the city, famous for its flamenco artists and wonderful "zambra" flamenco dancers
  • The Bañuelo Arab Baths. Impressive Arab baths that show the refinement of the Spanish Moors of over a thousand years ago
  • The Cathedral. Built on the orders of Queen Isabella I, the Catholic Queen, a Spanish Renaissance masterpiece. The Catholic Monarchs are buried in the Chapel
  • The Corral del Carbón. This old Andalusian warehouse and coal yard  dates back to the 14th century and is the only remaining such site in the whole of Spain
  • San Gil and Santa Ana Church. A tiny Moorish church built in 1501 on top of the Almanzra mosque. A beautiful temple on the banks of the Darro
  • Granada Charterhouse. The monastery was founded by the Grand Captain, Gonzalo Fernandez de Córdoba. It contains a beautiful 17th century Baroque church with pretty cloisters
  • Plaza Nueva and Carrera del Darro. The oldest square in Granada surrounded by a number of important buildings
  • Realejo district. The old Jewish quarter in the Muslim city, and now a great place to enjoy a cold beer and typical Granada tapas
