WALKS AROUND SAN SEBASTIÁN

We propose some of the most beautiful walks you can enjoy in San Sebastian:

  • From Mompás to El Peine del Viento. Start the walk from the eastern end of the city, in Sagüés at the end of Zurriola Beach, and head towards Urumea, passing through Kursaal. Instead of going towards the city centre, skirt around Monte Urgull along the Paseo Nuevo promenade to reach the port. From here, we get to Alberdi Eder passing between the Town Hall and the Yacht Club. La Concha Bay opens up before us. Walk all the way around La Concha Beach and head for Ondarreta below the Miramar Palace. Continue through the residential area of El Antiguo until we arrive at the base of Igueldo where we end our walk at the famous sculpture El Peine del Viento by Chillida. We highly recommend you have a drink at Bar Branka, right next to the sculpture
  • Great bridges and history. Start the walk from the Kursaal and the modernist bridge of the same name. Make a zigzag starting at the Paseo de la República Argentina, with the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and Maria Cristina Hotel up to Santa Catalina Bridge. This stone bridge takes us back to Medieval times. Cross the bridge and continue on the other side to the right, towards the Paseo de Francia. With its stately palaces, this is one of the most romantic corners of the city. We then reach the last bridge on our walk: María Cristina Bridge. Note the four monumental obelisks at the ends of the bridge, a copy of the ones on the Alexandre III Bridge in Paris. Cross the bridge to the Plaza de Bilbao for a drink on one of the terraces
  • Two different destinations starting from La Perla. We start the walk from La Perla, in the centre of La Concha beach, with a choice of two destinations: Go to El Peine del Viento sculpture or the Paseo Nuevo promenade. In both cases, make sure you have a raincoat (forget the umbrella, it will only break). The best fun is to be had at El Peine del Viento because when the sea is rough, a system causes the water to shoot out of the ground like a geyser. If you choose the Paseo Nuevo promenade, prepare to get wet as the waves will soak you through. After a walk like this, I recommend a mug of hot chocolate with churros
