This is our 10th stay at the Melia Hotel and we find it to be very central and close to shopping malls, The duty Manager Mr Shan was most helpful & patient he and his staff were very kind and helpful.Reception staff Mr Chang has been very helpful to us at all time, Restaurant staff Mr Ami has been very efficient & friendly daily and same as Ms Harmit. All your kindness has been appreciated. Thanking you all Robert & Debbie Craen Perth WA.

Update: I'm so glad that we gave this hotel another try. They exceeded all service expectations for our second and third stays. The staff were so warm, friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed and were well taken care of. When we came back for our third stay, not only did they recognise our name on the reservation and reach out ahead of time to welcome us, but the warmth and sincerity of the welcome we got when we returned was so heartwarming. Genuine care and happiness that we were back was so apparent. The staff here really do everything possible to make sure that their guests feel welcome and comfortable and it is authentic. It isn't done because it's their job, but because they genuinely care about the experience of their guests. From top management through to housekeeping and cooks and waitstaff in the restaurant all are so friendly, warm and genuine. Whenever we visit Kuala Lumpur we will most definitely be staying at Melia. Do yourself a favour and book your stay. This was the most bizarre mix of wonderful and exasperating stay. To start with the wonderful. The hotel itself is mostly wonderful. The suite we stayed in (Level Suite) was impeccable. Well maintained, clean, spacious, and smelled lovely (the whole hotel smells lovely). The beds were comfortable. And two hotel staff members really stand out for their friendliness, efficiency and stellar service. Ja, who helped us with our luggage and showed us around the suite and made sure we knew where everything was, and Agilan in the Level Lounge, who made sure we were well taken care of and spent a lot of time finding music he thought we'd enjoy. We do appreciate them and they made our stay easy and enjoyable. The buffet breakfast had a huge variety of good food to fit a lot of different tastes. It's close to a lot of things like malls and tourist attractions. Our experience with the rest of the service though was frustrating. When we checked in, we were checked into the wrong room (a room rather than a suite) and when we called the front desk they insisted we were in the suite. My husband had to go down and show them photos off of their own site on order to get us into the suite we'd booked and paid for. Then when we needed to extend our stay by a night the front desk told us they couldn't do that and we had to do it all online, which we couldn't actually do and ended up having to make a whole separate booking online. Then when we tried to update our keys so they worked for the extended night the front desk told us they couldn't do that either and instead told us to go and speak to Agila in the Lounge (why the Lounge which is for food and drink would have anything to do with room keys is beyond me). He was willing to go downstairs to the front desk to do that for us, but my husband went instead and had to insist that the front desk update the keys. The only time the front desk was actually helpful was when they wanted money from us. Which leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. We had to request house keeping every day as it got to after 5pm without the room being cleaned. The internet was spotty and unreliable. The one night we ate at the hotel restaurant, we ended up leaving without being able to get the bill or order the coffee we had wanted to have because everyone had disappeared and even calling out for someone and walking around the whole place couldn't find us someone to help us. Which meant getting the bill sent up later that night. We didn't go back to the restaurant. Overall the hotel is a good place to stay and Ja and Agila make for a great experience but if your experience is anything like ours it will be frustrating dealing with anything else. And at the prices they charge, that shouldn't really happen.
