Sustainability and Environment - Meliá Castilla

At Meliá Castilla, following the corporate sustainability policies of Meliá Hotels International, we are committed to sustainable development based on social, cultural and environmental responsibility.

For over 40 years we have been fully committed to social responsibility. We have supported causes that contribute to reducing poverty and social differences. 

PROTECTING CHILDREN

Involved in the strategic alliance between UNICEF and Meliá Hotels International, the Meliá Castilla collaborates through fund raising, awareness training courses for employees, amongst other actions.

Thanks to other children’s organisations and alligned with our social positioning, we help in protecting children.

Some of the actions that we have carried out have consisted in sharing our supplies with various shelters and assistances centres. We have donated usable hotel material, and our kitchen has participated in weekly soup kitchens.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Aware that commitment to sustainable and environmental development is one of our key elements we have carried out the following actions:

• We have identified the environmental impact of our operations
• We have promoted energy and water efficiency, as well as reduced emissions by reducing unnecessary consumption and raising awareness amongst both employees and guests of the importance of responsible consumption 
• We always look for efficiency and containment in the consumption of natural resources
• We manage responsibly our waste and discharges

All this combined with our commitment of continual improvement, pollution prevention and compliance with legal requirements.
