Meliá Alicante

We stayed at Melia Alicante for four nights in March and would like to share an honest and balanced review about our experience. First of all, the location of the hotel is absolutely perfect – a real 10 out of 10. It is situated directly between the beach on one side and the marina and harbor on the other side. The access to the city center is very fast and easy, which makes the hotel ideal for both relaxing and exploring Alicante. The staff were very friendly, warm and always helpful. This includes the reception team as well as the housekeeping staff. Even though official check-in time is relatively late at 4 pm, guests have the possibility to arrive earlier, leave their luggage and already use the hotel facilities. However, when we asked about this before arrival, we only received a response one day later after we had already arrived. A same-day reply would have been more helpful. We also enjoyed the beautiful views of the sea and the marina. The breakfast was very tasty and offered a wide variety of food. However, at almost 25 euros per person, we felt the breakfast was quite expensive. The hotel offers several facilities such as a small pool area, sunbeds, a bar, two restaurants and even a car rental directly on site, which is convenient. On the other hand, there were also some disadvantages. In our opinion, the hotel building is quite old and has not been sufficiently modernized. The furniture and equipment in the rooms looked worn and outdated. Some tables were scratched and used heavily. Regarding cleanliness, the rooms were cleaned daily, but not effectively enough. When we arrived, we still found hair in different areas of the room. The balcony was not fully clean and the floor seemed to be wiped in a strange way without properly removing dust. Another issue was the air conditioning system, which works centrally. During this time of the year it was only set to heating mode or standby. This means guests cannot individually adjust the temperature to cool the room, which was uncomfortable for us. The bathroom design also caused problems, as water easily flowed out of the shower and made the floor wet regardless of how carefully we showered. The pool and sunbathing area also felt old. In the morning there is sun at the pool, but in the afternoon the area is mostly in the shade. The pool temperature was acceptable, but unfortunately the water surface was not completely clean – we sometimes saw hair floating in it. There are many sunbeds, but no umbrellas, no small tables and limited comfort options. If you buy drinks or food at the pool bar, you often have to place them on the ground. One important disappointment for us was that despite being directly at the sea, the hotel does not offer direct access to the water. A small pier or private access point to the sea would significantly improve the experience. Because of the central location and the nearby casino, nights can be quite noisy. Loud cars, motorcycles and people inside and outside the hotel made sleeping with open windows difficult. In summary: The hotel has an outstanding location and very friendly staff. However, considering the price level, we felt that the overall value for money was not fully justified. The hotel is quite old, the room cleanliness could be improved, and the facilities and additional services felt limited or overpriced. A modern renovation, better pool comfort, improved cleaning standards and direct sea access would make a big difference.

Melia is the best hotel in Alicante by far. The position, the views, the food and all the staff are fantastic. I will post photos at the end.

L’emplacement est parfait, le petit déjeuner est varié et délicieux. Le personnel est aimable et les chambres sont spacieuses. En revanche un grand bémol concernant la propreté. Le nettoyage des chambres n’est pas du tout digne d’un grand hôtel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Melia Alicante. I can say without hesitation if I were to visit Alicante again this hotel would be the only place I'd book. My biggest regret is I didn't pay the extra for the seaside view. Don't get me wrong the Marina was a great view. If you are talking location I don't think you could beat this place. The beach, restaurants, shopping even a casino within in a minutes walk from the hotel door. If I had one knock on the entire stay I'd say the brunch is a bit pricey. If you to you like a Big breakfast you can get your moneys worth. The buffet itself has just about anything you could want for breakfast. The food is decent the orange juice is amazing. Personally I could have a coffee and croissant 🥐. Which like I said you can get with a short stroll across the street. None the less if you are heading to Alicante id recommend Melia Alicante. I'm normally an air BNB guy but I this was worth every penny. The picture is actually from my table at breakfast.

Always a pleasure to stay in Melia Alicante. Staff very friendly, breakfast superb, room very clean and the view of the marina was fantastic.
