The hotel is located at the heart of all the action, near the River Thames, theatres, shopping areas, bars, restaurants and the city’s lively nightlife, to the south of Covent Garden, between The Strand and Fleet Street, in the true global capital of culture and fashion. ME London offers impressive views of the city’s historical landmarks, including the River Thames, London Eye and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The triangular site on which the ME London stands is located on the corner of Aldwych Street and The Strand and was originally the home of the popular Gaiety Theatre, which suffered bomb damage during the Second World War and was torn down and turned into an office block in the 1960s.
The new hotel stands next to the recently renovated Marconi House, former headquarters of the BBC where the first radio broadcast was made in 1922.
Experts from the London Museum and the English Heritage attended the excavation of the hotel after remnants of an old bar were uncovered in the basement
